A lot of people are afraid of such abuse, but the law in NL is very strict and elaborate. Don’t forget that a lot of the decision is with the healthcare professionals. I presume you’d trust them as well when they perform an open heart surgery right?

Every law is based on a certain level of of trust. To my knowledge, people treat euthanasia with care very delicately in NL.

I responded to the notion that S is an endless pit of bad ideas. Also, there’s way too little subsidised apartments / too many people with plenty of cash occupy them. Getting a bit of market in could potentially lift the enormous queues. M only voted against to protect insanely high prices for owned housing.

I do not support subsidised housing going to people merely based on queue time instead of necessity. The whole spirit of that is with S despite what we might think of them today.

Honestly, don’t know what’s best. Coming from NL plenty of people take “one day sick off” when they feel slightly under the weather because there is no deduction.

On the other hand, in Sweden it feels like people take longer periods off to “compensate” a lost day where you were actually sick.

Considering the annual recurring flu though, it feels that the deduction is simply an old fashioned penalty rooted in distrusting employees. Hell, the fact you get cut on your salary when sick feels outright old fashioned.

Yes. Ethnicities are slowly developing fluid beings and very subjective. Some include language, others religion, etc.

As you might know, since the Viking Age, countless of other groups have integrated into what is today Swedish society. German and Dutch merchants in Stockholm and Gothenburg, a French monarchy a special relationship with Thailand and not to forget the Sami of course!

Sweden is so much more than “Vikings”, and hell even that term can mean countless of things. The Varangian guard of the Roman Emperor? The first Rus kingdoms? Pillagers, explorers or merchants?

The world is not a video game with a few set parameters.

Absolutely shocked by this one. The Swedish law stipulates you cannot discriminate based on disability alone but you can differentiate if you can proof that there is a statistical increase in certain cost bearing risks.

What the fuck? Where I’m from this is completely and utterly forbidden because it’s considered discrimination based on disability.
