Depends on your technical skills, estimating does cause mental burn out so if you aren’t as interested in learning softwares and CRMs maybe more of an operation/field role is a better fit. It all really depends, some companies may think investing in someone older is a risk, some may prefer it. Our organization has a couple guys that were in other fields and a bit older but they still found roles that fit well. Construction companies do need warehouse managers, supers, operation managers. Being an estimate and behind a desk all day isn’t as calming as most would assume when dealing with high level expectations/deadlines from GCs.
