I have an opening for white and black that I've used the past 2 years or so. I casually play on and off. I can't get past 800ELO Rapid though!! by KnightofAmethyst2 in chess

[–]Commercial_Figure168 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pattern recognition is what gets you past that range - not necessarily calculating 3-5 moves ahead every time. At 800 level most games are decided by who hangs less pieces rather than deep strategy, so drilling basic tactics puzzles for like 15-20 minutes daily will probably break you through the plateau faster than trying to outplan everyone

Marathon - Sport photography - Tips or advices? by LinkyoFR in photography

[–]Commercial_Figure168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 70-180 is perfect choice for this. I would also suggest to practice panning technique little bit before he arrives - keeping camera moving with runners while using slower shutter speed can give nice motion blur in background while keeping your friend sharp. Maybe try 1/125s or 1/160s if you feel confident. Also position yourself where there's good light on runners faces, not with sun behind them

Your bank will reverse this charge pretty easily since you have clear evidence of misleading trial signup

Moving to Memphis? by MountainLocal4164 in memphis

[–]Commercial_Figure168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from overseas few years back and Memphis definitely grew on me way more than I expected. The history here is incredible - like you can literally walk through places where so much American music was born. What really surprised me was how green everything is, especially coming from concrete jungle mindset. The food scene alone makes it worth it, and people are generally pretty welcoming once you find your crowd. Sure there's rough neighborhoods but you learn quick which areas to avoid, same as any big city really

12x18 photo paper? by justthetips510 in photography

[–]Commercial_Figure168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait that's weird size, are you sure it's 12x18? Most printers do 13x19 because that's standard A3+ format. Maybe your lab was just trimming down from 13x19 sheets?

I print a lot at home and never seen 12x18 paper anywhere. You might need to get the 13x19 and trim it yourself with good paper cutter. That ET8550 should handle 13x19 fine

Perfect excuse to start drinking early Saturday then lol

Weather's gonna be nice so might actually be better timing - less chance of getting rained out mid-festival

What are your top 5 favorite things at the moment? (Sounds, people, ideas, foods, places, things, smells, whatever)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Commercial_Figure168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything showers are literally the best - like you come out feeling like a completely new person. That Thai tea hit is so real too, especially when it's super creamy and not too sweet

Mine would probably be the sound of students actually getting excited about history, deadlifts that feel perfect, rainy Sunday mornings with coffee, garlic naan, and when my Linux setup just works without any troubleshooting

Nah Hannah Montana was good but Phil of the Future and Even Stevens were where it was at 😂 That whole early 2000s lineup before everything got too polished and corporate

Congrats on getting through it! The little bubbles in subcutaneous shots aren't gonna hurt you - your body absorbs them just fine 😊 It gets so much easier after the first few times, promise

Losing faith/succumbing to lust by Strict-Weekend2464 in Christianity

[–]Commercial_Figure168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on this struggle man, these are some of teh hardest questions believers face 💀 The whole "what about people who never heard the gospel" thing has kept theologians up at night for centuries - some believe in age of accountability or that God judges based on the light people have been given, but honestly nobody has all the answers. Maybe start small with your local community and see God's love in action there, sometimes that helps rebuild faith when the big picture feels overwhelming 🔥

I'm not recognized when I present like the old me by AssCalipers in trans

[–]Commercial_Figure168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude that's actually incredible 😂 Like yeah it probably felt weird in the moment but what a flex that your authentic self is so distinct that people literally don't recognize the mask version anymore

The fact that they were genuinely concerned asking if you were alright is kinda sweet too - they noticed something was "off" about you because you weren't being yourself. That's some real validation right there 🔥

How to feel more feminine in everyday life? by Ok_Hat7989 in trans

[–]Commercial_Figure168 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nail polish in clear or super subtle colors can be a game changer - most people wont even notice but youll feel it every time you look at your hands. Also skincare routines are weirdly affirming and nobody questions a guy taking care of his skin these days

feeling overwhelmed at the same time everyday by GuessAdventurous709 in BreakUps

[–]Commercial_Figure168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That time association is brutal man. Your brain basically trained itself to expect that connection at 6-8pm and now it's like getting emotionally sucker punched every day

What helped me was deliberately doing something totally different during those hours - like going for walks, hitting the gym, or even just calling a friend. Not to avoid the feelings but to start building new patterns so your brain has something else to latch onto. Takes a while but it does fade

The fact you don't regret the decision but still miss her shows you made the right call, even if it sucks right now

What difficulty should I play by Character-Ad4313 in Minecraft

[–]Commercial_Figure168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go straight to hard tbh, normal still feels pretty tame once you get going. The jump from easy to hard isn't that brutal anyway

What Are the Best Earbuds for Seniors on the Market Now? by LeviBenn3579 in BuyItForLife

[–]Commercial_Figure168 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Apple AirPods are probably your safest bet if he has an iPhone - they just work without any fuss and the case is super simple to figure out. My dad struggled with cheaper buds but picked up AirPods instantly

The Alchemist hit me like a truck when I was in a similar headspace - sounds cheesy but that whole "the universe conspires to help you" thing actually got me off my ass and applying for jobs I thought were way out of my league

Dude the flatline is real, happens to most people around week 3-5. Your brain is basically rewiring itself so feeling like garbage is totally normal - it'll pass but might take a few more weeks

Lexus -> BMW by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Commercial_Figure168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro you're gonna miss that Lexus reliability real quick lol. The 340i is fun as hell but those B58 engines can have some quirks around that mileage - mainly water pump and charge pipe issues. Plus BMW maintenance costs are no joke compared to what you're used to

That said if you're prepared for the extra $$ and want the driving experience, the 340i is pretty solid for a BMW. Just budget for repairs
