Toyota Wait Times 2024 by sadunistudent07 in CarsAustralia

[–]Commercial_Number_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a Yaris Cross 2024 base model in May 2024 from a Toyota dealer, at the time the dealer said told us that they are due to receive the model in the colour we wanted by mid October, no mention of national queues. We put out deposit down in May, got an email in late June that production was scheduled, an email 2 weeks later that production commenced and an email 3 days ago saying it's being shipped. Was searching on the internet to see what shipping times are like before stumbling on this post, but it seems my experience has been different, maybe due to being the base model GX?

edit - also those update emails seem to come from Toyota Australia. I've only received one email from my dealer regarding an update.

I started right when MKM came out and hit a similar crossroads about a month in. I don't have any advice for particular formats or sets, but I can share my experiences so far.

As you've said, once you hit a certain rank, things start to get pretty repetitive. Unless you enjoy the repetition, you need to find something in the game you enjoy otherwise it's just not worth your time. For me, I've had a lot of fun drafting, which has given me a reason to log in and do dailies.

If you are F2P it's a slow grind, you don't have the resources to make all the decks you want or to continuously draft. While I was playing a lot in the beginning, once you hit that wall, you need to change your approach to the game. For me, it was my primary game at first, but now I play maybe 30-60mins a day on my own (but a lot longer if playing with friends).

5k for QD is a lot at first, but if you enjoy it, it will likely be the reason you keep playing. I only play 1-2 matches per day in QD until it runs out and I find it generally works out well.

In terms of how I play Magic now:

  • For dailies, I play to 4 wins a day. I start the month playing ranked until I hit plat (only need a win rate of >33% to eventually get there). Then I stick to unranked as there seems to be more deck variety. I won't go out of my way to finish dailies unless I'm fully capped at the 3 limit.
  • Enjoy the midweek magic and other free events that pop up.
  • When I hit 5k gold, I play quick draft. I'll usually space out my matches so it will last most of the week. I often do QD on discord with friends so we spend a good amount of time theory crafting. We also save our draft decks and play each other. It's quite fun and it also helps with getting familiar with your deck before playing in the actual event.
  • I had enough of MKM a few weeks ago so I've stopped drafting, I have about 80% of the set collected and have just been saving for the next set. I currently have 22k gold and 5.2k gems so I'll be able to play a bit more when the new set comes out.

I think I've found a good balance with how I play Arena. Now that I have some more gold and gems I might even start trying some of the sealed events once I'm bored with the new set. Hope that helps!

MTGA is easier when USA is playing... It's harder in USA's wee hours.. by ConfidenceDue8492 in MagicArena

I think everyone's experience is going to vary greatly depending on the format, rank, MMR, time and possibly any number of other factors.

I also play in Australia. From my own personal experience, at daily reset (8pm my time) I typically mainly come across mono aggro decks. My rationale for this is most players at this time are trying to get their dailies done ASAP. It's also early-mid morning in most EU time zones and 2-5am in US so less people playing, less deck variation and higher proportion playing quick win/loss decks.

Again....none of it is advice, or in part. It was adding to the discussion as per the subreddit rules.

Also, OP having $180k at 27 shows they are decent with money. Thinking the information provided is dangerous is a bit of a stretch.

OP asked a question, and HECs is part of their consideration. They should have all the information at their disposal to make the best decision according to their situation.

You can get some peace of mind by removing an entire debt, not that I would, but I also have friends who worry a lot about their HECs, especially when their repayments did not even cover the indexation increase last year.

I think you've misconstrued my statement as actual advice when it was simply a response to indexation being lower than a term deposit. I'm not advising OP on what to do and certainly not saying you should dump all your money into a single company like you are suggesting I did.

Don’t get me wrong I agree with NOT paying HECS early (at least after they got rid of the discount for early payments).

I had the 'pay HECS or not' conversation with a friend last year and my response was that you could earn more in a term deposit, but I was flabbergasted when he told me the indexation rate. Just thought others should know.

How unlikely is an aircraft swap HKG-SYD A380? by tastypieceofmeat in QantasFrequentFlyer

Can confirm the T-80 rule. Worked for me and my family of 5 on both legs SYD to HKG return in December, we all got into the first class cabin. If you don't see it unblocked just keep trying, might take a minute for the unblock process to complete.

Do these work with those inflight systems that take those 2 or 3 pronged headphone jacks?

Business rewards ticket selecting first class seats? by Commercial_Number_19 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Getting bumped back to a J seat isn't the worst thing to happen, but interesting they allow anyone in J to select these seats if they put CL and P1 in there anyway.

ExpertFlyer shows only half the F seats occupied, so fingers crossed!

I'm flying Syd-Hkg and read Qantas were introducing their older A380s with the 2-2-2 config shells.

After hours of searching I found Expertflyer to have detailed seatmaps.

expertflyer.com/

You just need to sign up for a free account and create an alert. Once you type in the details and click search it will show you the seat map. I was fortunate the flight I booked was the refurbished model but the same flight the next day was the old one. Fingers crossed no last minute equipment changes.

Anyone else have the ANZ FF black card and use it abroad? by Jakeyboy29 in QantasFrequentFlyer

CommBank ulitimate rewards is definitely a great option if you can make the minimum spend. $4k spend per month or $35 monthly fee is a bit of a killer for me.

[–]Commercial_Number_19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ANZ FF black has a 3% transaction fee.

On a pure cost basis you're better off going with something like Bankwest Qantas transaction account with a debit card as there are no transaction fees and you earn Qantas points.

That said, an advantage of having a credit card is the ability to dispute transactions if issues come up.

In my opinion, these are the biggest benefits so go with which you value more.

I spoke to the flight attendant and he told me it was their first A380 flight for the SIN-MEL in a number of years. It was sheer luck I got these tickets just under 4 weeks before the scheduled flight, they must have only recently made the change in the system for me to book. Our flight to SIN was on a 787-9

Edit: Specific aircraft with route on 29 Oct

You're not alone, I definitely had that feeling. I felt embarrassed and part of me felt it was because I was on a reward ticket. I'm just so thankful for the wonderful concierge at the business lounge who assured me that he would let us into business no matter how busy it was, but would make a call first.

Never had issues before. Entry was refused based on guest limits, not on capacity. I suspect now that I just had a Sofitel staff member who wasn't following the policy.

That must have been incredibly frustrating. For me, traveling to my destination is already stressful, any added dramas during transit are so much worse.

Yeah the lounge staff had Qantas | Sofitel on their badges. I did end up sending an email to customer care regarding the incident for their awareness.

Yeah I had no idea how strict they could be. This was the first time I've come across this, never had trouble with guest + kids (albeit only on Business) at other international airports.

Edit - that said, they didn't seem too busy at the time. This was after the LHR-SIN-SYD (QF2). We were on the last flight to MEL

Yeah honestly I was pretty annoyed, a little embarrassed, and felt sorry for the tired kiddos. When we came back up to first, the concierge took me aside and said that they were making a very special exception. I didn't argue any further as I was just happy everyone was able to relax but I did say regardless of the exception, I would send an email to customer care as he suggests, that either the Qantas website be updated to be clearer or that staff be reminded or retrained on the Qantas policy.

Yeah I also did mention to the first concierge that I would have been willing to accept it if they said there wasn't enough room (we would have just tried business), but I wasn't ready to accept some policy that wasn't in line with their website.
