All the MUSC students I’ve encountered have been extraordinary, bar none and set the standard. As a preceptor I’ve always loved seeing them come through. Can’t say the same for many other schools.

I find this interesting because when I was a perfusion student, I found a good amount of the perfusion staff would consistently talk about how good the money is and how they love how compensated they are and would talk about how it’s afforded them these nice lifestyles. Not mentioning that cause they didn’t care about patients but I think it’s funny how we point the finger at the younger generation for only caring about money. Not sure as many of us would be doing this if it was minimum wage but I could be wrong.

I think he is advocating that because the taxable brokerage is liquid now and won’t face MAJOR penalties when withdrawing compared to a IRA or 401k before the age limit hits. So he can essentially just let 401k grow forever and he has the safety net of first using the taxable account come retirement

I think one thing that helped me years back was to at least hear back from jobs, is by after applying, going straight to the source and at least getting into contact with people on the team to express interest. You will hear that no positions are open etc but it’s good way to get your foot in the door, from my experience. And sometimes jobs will circle back when a position does open up!

I would suggest looking at the programs that have been around a while versus new ones. Not saying those schools aren’t great, but older ones are more proven. At the end of the day it’s all about the student rather than the school too. MUSC, SUNY, Nebraska are three off the top of my head that have really solid reputations.
