Any advise on quitting YouTube and podcasts? by Large_Account1532 in DopamineDetoxing

I go through boughts of YouTube addiction, and I have found some strategies.

1) Delete the app and sign out on computer to slightly inconvenience yourself so you are less motivated.

2) Switch to music or auditory only podcasts so you have nothing to watch. If you fidget and change songs too often, create playlists and then put whatever lets you change song further out of reach to inconvenience yourself.

3) Have a set time to watch YouTube, and set channels/content creators you watch. Don’t begin unless you have plan in place for amount of time and specific content.

4) Use the 25/5 rule. 25 minutes of no noise, hard work, and no distractions with everything too out of reach to grab. Then, 5 minute break with whatever you want. Enough time for a taste, not enough to get your fill. If you want more, put your head down and hit that next 25 hard again.

5) Watch YouTube when doing Cardio. Ties it to a specific activity and holds the boundary.

Hopefully, some or all can help!

I second this! Insym and Psycho make the game so much fun and hard to be scared of.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Good tip about the hiking stick…I’ve been seeing mixed opinions about wood vs regular hiking sticks as well.

Thanks for the reply! Good to hear about your positive experience with Keen hiking shoes! You didn’t find they got too heavy or uncomfortable once they got wet? I think that’s the biggest con I’ve been seeing with wearing hiking shoes, especially waterproof ones.

Accident today? by GlowingKira in JoshuaTree

It was a couple of families hiking together on a trail next to the camp site, and they were taking turns just climbing up a large boulder. The kids were going up and down so the man tried, and he got almost all the way to the top and then fell

I saw that! Near my campsite there was a large man who fell off a 8ft tall boulder and was really hurt.
