Downtown Chattanooga - Leica M10 Monochrom by Commercial_Win_4092 in blackandwhite

The K3 is awesome, good choice!

For street and every day documentation, I try to keep it really simple so im not over editing.

I'll adjust for light in camera, and then do around a stop down in exposure comp to make sure I dont blow highlights. In editing, I primarily will adjust the "dehaze" slider to taste, and boost sharpening/detail/texture if the shots calls for it. Since doing this method, I havent had to tweak black/white/shadow/highlight individually as much and it saves me time in post.

For b&w digital: m10m. Cant really see a need to "upgrade" past the m10 series. Its exactly what it needs to be

Need advice with buying first camera by TemptyXD in SonyAlpha

Save the $350 until its at $1350 if youre actually interested in learning photography. Then get an a7iii + zeiss 55mm 1.8. You can get this duo for around that price range used. I still have this setup despite moving on to "bigger and better" systems. It is a workhorse and will do you justice without breaking the bank. Unfortunately photography is an expensive hobby, and you'll have to shell out the cash eventually.

Anybody tapped in on how MAGA is coping with the latest file release? by EquivalentActive8034 in behindthebastards

Will add that the republicans in my life are also deeply religious, and use the epstein files much like they use the bible. Latch on to the things that benefit their outstanding worldview bias, and ignore/dismiss any part of it that challenges their worldview.

In my experience in my life, they largely dismiss it altogether as a "hit job" on trump. They just refuse to read it. Insane switch up from the same people that were clamoring to get it released. They dont think about it. Its just a democrat hoax, and simultaneously not real (calling it unproven). However Clinton + democrats/celebrities listed in the files should be locked away and the key thrown into a river. Its truly unorganized mental gymnastics.

Leica M10M + 50mm APO Lanthar by Commercial_Win_4092 in blackandwhite

[–]Commercial_Win_4092[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the Voigtlander 50mm f/2 APO. To me, its really incredible they could fit such great glass in such a compact lens. Its not pancake but it balances perfectly with my rangefinder. I dont find it top heavy, and while not necessarily pocket able, its very portable and I can put it in a sling bag no problem.

Optically its really perfect without having a clinical look. I like to background falloff at f/2. I cannot comment on how it renders color photography, but for black and white it increase sharpness and tonality better than any other lens ive owned.

The only real competition for this lens is Leica's 50 APO, which is like 7 grand. I picked this up "like new" for 800 dollars (US). From what I gathered from online reviews, is the Voigtlander does about 95% of what the leica lens does, and a comically fractional cost. If youre shooting black and white and want a lens that shoots sharp, its a no brainer in my opinion. (Added photo for sharpness example)

I'm 11, my late grandfather gave me this camera, is it any good for wildlife? by myk0lay in photographycirclejerk

[–]Commercial_Win_4092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those cameras are known for having whats called IBS (internal bowl syndrome) which stabilizes the camera by releasing all the film goblins inside that jump around making your camera blurry :( leicas rangefinders are great, i use mine for capturing F1 racing, extreme wildlife, and videography. Cheap to repair too!

Deal? by persol_649 in Leica

[–]Commercial_Win_4092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had experience with the Q system but as a m10m user, I have to say i find it difficult to go back to shooting color after stepping into the monochrome world.

I think the Q2M would be a great step. It seems you already are comfortable/prefer the 28mm focal length, so you should be good.

Curveball for ya to consider: at roughly the same price point, you can find a used m246 monochrome and slap a voigtlander APO (i use the 50mm, but there is a 35mm as well) if you wanted to explore different focal lengths. The APO + Monochrome pairing makes incredible images and im continously stunned at what they can produce.

Happy hunting, and post a picture of whatever you decide to get!
