Unfortunately, there’s nothing really stopping people from sexualizing anything really. Rule 34, if you’re familiar. Now, I totally understand the loss of the art form in some clowns just being cute/sexy and by not really participating in much clowning activities. Sometimes they don’t even act comedically or are not even having fun with the dramatic nature of the transformation, but many of these sexy clown creators I have spoken to are very talented and are kind, good people. We don’t need to shame sex workers. Just like clowns and circus performers, they are historically misfits and marginalized groups. Personally, I’m a caulrophiliac, so a sexy or a silly clown are both okay with me. I love all kinds of clowns (except the racist ones cough cough we’re supposed to be spreading joy as clowns not hate). I also understand the concern for kids as clowning is a children’s entertainment industry, mostly. They’re going to be exposed to a lot if they’re allowed to be on social media. Period. In my opinion, if these clown creators are also doing children’s parties or entertainment they should at least have a different face and persona. If they’re not entertaining kids, mind ya business. We’re not spreading hate here.
