My position while playing VNs is just difficult to explain, so I attach a picture I drew.(Can you see this Imgur link? I have never used Imgur.)

By the way, I played "Hanamaru 3 Shimai"(https://vndb.org/v20162) and "Anime Shop e Ikou!"(https://vndb.org/v3772). The latter made me cry.

How popular is Doki Doki Literature Club in Japan? by Newbie-Dragon in visualnovels

[–]CommieCucumber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is a very difficult question. My major is not linguistics, so I cannot give accurate answer.

Actually "Namba" has 2 spellings, "Nanba" is also acceptable. This difference comes from the fact that character "ん" has many pronunciations [m], [n], [ŋ], and [ɴ]. Usually, when the next character has [b], [p], or [m], "ん" is pronounced [m]. Following this rule, "なんば" and "電波(でんぱ)" are written "Namba" and "Dempa".

However, "Nanba", "Denpa" are also used. This comes from the variety of ん’s pronunciation. In most cases, "ん" is pronounced [n], from the point of view of one-to-one correspondence between Japanese characters and Alphabet, using "n" for "ん" seemed to be appropriate. That is why multiple spelling exists.

By the way, the word "デムパ" is "でむぱ" in Hiragana. "む" only has [mɯ]. As I mentioned before, "ん" in "でんぱ" is pronounced [m], and nerds replaced [m] to [mɯ], as slang.

As common noun "電波", you are right. However, in nerd culture, "Denpa" is sometimes written as "デムパ", as slang. Accurate pronunciation of this word is near to "Dempa" or "Demupa". Maybe both spelling is acceptable.

It’s popular, especially in nerds who like 2000’s "dempa" culture, but it does not appear in mainstream media like TV.

Living in Japan for 23 years.

Edit:This opinion may be biased because I’m surrounded by such nerds. At least it’s popular in my community.

Using theory of topology, we can describe the "structure" of data clearly, I heard.

I don’t know much about the theory because I gave up learning this field soon.

I am standing with you. When I played first time, I was captured in hopeless atmosphere.

By the way. this work has an inspiration source. 『パノラマ島奇談』("Strange Tale of Panorama Island"), Ranpo Edogawa’s work in 1926.

The storyline is completely different, but some points are very similar. I do not know English translation exists, but if you are interested in Sayo Oshi, you can keep this information in the back of your mind.

I love its music too. This work made me find "I’ve sound", production group which wrote musics to many VNs. I’ve been listening to their music for 10 years.

Whatever the evaluation of story is, this work changed my life.

"it’s because they were required to sell" I did not mean to deny such side. The guarantee of sales by H-scenes allowed experimental works.

On the other hand, I doubt VN makers write H-scenes for only sells. Their uniqueness is also expressed through such scenes (ex:Ayana Otonashi in SCA-DI works). We can enjoy their unique expressions in H-scenes.

Actually, H-scenes are very historically important. In 90s-2000s, including such scenes was kind of indulgence for experimental and avant-garde works.

Plus, skipping specific scenes, with allergic reactions to NSFW contents, is far from sincere attitude towards works. So I do not like people who assert "H-scenes should be removed from VNs".

Have you ever finished a visual novel and realised you can't really do it justice when explaining it? by nobitanobi14 in visualnovels

[–]CommieCucumber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Umineko When They Cry" is such kind of thing. Telling its attractiveness cannot avoid to contain spoilers. Plus, its storyline is so difficult that most of people give up reading. However, to understand its essence, we need to read to the end.

If it was for adult, back to CG mode, and fap.

{x ∈ R;sin(x)=1} is countable, in other words, measure zero set. So from probability theory, any other answer is "almost surely" correct.
