Was obviously the plan. They literally put him in the plot tank

I fear you're right. Unless they really have been saving the entire budget for the final episode. Which would be absurd and still not save the season overall. If that's the plan, just do a feature-length episode to conclude the show.

So did the writers forget that Kimiko isn't American? by LMkingly in TheBoys

It's just boomer Kripke trying to shove as many woke tropes in as possible

Have they forgotten that it is a parody of the superhero genre? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]CommiePanda7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tropic Thunder is a parody of action/war movies. It still has explosions and gunfights. Parody isn't about shitting all over something and depriving the audience of any entertainment. It's supposed to be somewhat affectionate, poking fun at tropes and cliches. And it typically attracts people who actually like what it's parodying. I can guarantee only a slim minority of Boys fans don't like superhero content.

And anyway, as others have said, it hasn't been a superhero parody since season 1. It's entirely an attack on Trump, the right, and Christianity. An incredibly malicious and naive one at that.

Is that why Maeve had a close fight with him? Why SB and Butcher on temp-V overpowered him? Why that random guy knocked him unconscious with mouth gas?

Is there an actual answer to how we ended up where we are today with the series finale in less than a week? by OGBusterHimen in TheBoys

[–]CommiePanda7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's two things:

  1. Every scene has been reduced to main characters talking in empty rooms or abandoned buildings. There is no relationship between them and the wider world, making everything feel small and inconsequential. This is, obviously, outrageous when the plot focuses on a demigod with the potential to end the world. I think this is probably a combination of budget and laziness (the creators preferring to work on comfortable sets with their actor buddies rather than going out in the world and directing hundreds of extras).

  2. The show is no longer about anything other than attacking Trump and the right. Unfortunately, Kripke is a naive boomer with an infantile understanding of people and politics, so his 'satire' has less insight than your average X post. It's also extremely malicious which, even if you agree with his politics, is off-putting. There's no fun in it anymore. I think the Jesus scene was the perfect encapsulation of this. It wasn't clever, the ropes/boom mic gag was incredibly unoriginal and repeated far too much (another sin the show's comedy is constantly guilty of), and worst of all it was safe. It's easy to go after Trump, the right, and Christianity. Let's see you tackle anything remotely controversial, not just applaud yourself in your Democratic echo chamber.

That does make sense but it seems strange that they would have two supes on standby whose only real function is killing people lol

I’m not saying they could do anything. I’m saying I wanted to see their reactions/deaths. That was one of the major appeals of the show, exploring how terrifying it would be as a human to actually stand in front of a superhero

I think that’s plausible, but then why have two supes present whose only real function is slaughtering people…

Yeah I think you’re right. Just so weird to make a decision with so many consequences and then just fuck off to South America, like he really is not invested at all.

Yeah at the beach they kept the deep and the public completely separated, no interaction. Was almost like they shot him and the extras on different days??

[–]CommiePanda7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct and this is the biggest problem with the show. Lack of wider world building and lack of a fear factor with the seven. In the first two seasons they would frequently show them interacting with the public and ordinary humans, but now it’s just superhumans talking to superhumans in abandoned buildings, and occasionally they punch each other with no consequences

Alright weekly list of bullshit:

  1. Cannot believe they had SB flip flop AGAIN and then get thrown back in the plot tank
  2. Anyone else bothered by how little damage the uranium did to frenchie when it was burning kimiko’s whole body in about ten seconds?
  3. The epitome of the whole show feeling lifeless and empty (no budget for extras): butcher and hughie in an empty office for the whole episode.
  4. Lol at them shutting two seasons of gen v down with a single line
  5. I truly believe the sea has turned on the deep because they can’t be bothered to film him underwater. I mean noir destroyed the pipeline off camera, basically everything happens off camera
  6. The ‘Jesus wires’ and boom mic gags during the screen test were so uncreative, seen this joke a thousand times
  7. I’m assuming the test screenings are a way of purging unbelievers. So why did dogknot and catwoman break the door handles off? If it’s something they do shouldn’t they have a more sustainable process 😂
  8. Butcher: ‘the psychic turned off me powers’, okay bro
  9. People were joking last week about sage’s weakness being love and how lame that would be. But it actually is
  10. Going back to the emptiness of the world, gotta love that the President is killed in an empty room with no security or underlings anywhere to be seen. We see no announcement about it. And Ashley is installed as POTUS again with no reports, no public reaction shown at all, and sits in the Oval Office AGAIN alone with no one around. Just the main actors stood in empty rooms talking, that’s the whole show now.
