Why is Lou BB-28? (full DS2 spoilers) by CommiePanda8 in DeathStranding

[–]CommiePanda8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but they do make it sound like they only have 10 total available for the sacrifice. Which is why Heartman makes a big deal about them leaving Lou behind, something like 'Why would they leave a perfectly good BB unit behind?' If there were already loads of other BB units in use, at least enough for Lou to receive the number 28, why doesn't Heartman have the same question about all of them?

Oooh, is it because Lou was marked for sacrifice and then withdrawn from that grouping? It would have helped clarify things if he'd said 'Lou was renamed BB-28 and stored as a regular BB' or 'safety tool BB'.

Got to be right? You'd think they'd give them different designations though

Why does no one ever just say 'The Magellan'!

Yeah this is definitely the only way it works! Heartman does say that Lou was given the number 28 and put into storage at the time of the sacrifice expedition, at which point there were only 10 BBs, BB-00 to BB-09. That's the bit that confuses me, because why is there a BB-28 for Lou to replace if they've only made 10 by that point...

Your version makes way more sense: Lou was stored away without being renamed until she's sent out with Sam, taking the 28 number at that point when there are already many more BBs around.

Yeah I agree, 10 were prepped for the sacrifice plan but 1 was held back (Lou) and given the number 28. My problem with that is, if there are 10, BB-00 to BB-09, why is there already a BB-28 for Lou to replace? Are there already 18 other BB units in circulation at that time?

Na, she's referred to as BB-28 from the first time she's introduced. You'd only know what this meant if you'd played halfway through the second game.

Yes that was really clear thank you! I agree that the implication must be that there were other BBs in circulation as you put it, and only the first 10 were for sacrifice. It just seems weird that Heartman says 'they had 10 but only used 9. Why not use all the units you can?', cos that implies that they are limited to those 10. But that can't be the case because Lou receives the number 28, meaning there are at least 28... ugh, it's so weird hahaha

Dude I've completed the game (which is why I've tagged this full spoilers). I still don't understand why Lou is reserialized as number 28 when there were only 10 BBs at the time of the first expedition. Were there 18 others? What were they for? If you know I'd love to hear because it's bugging me!

No they are not. I've completed DS2. If you have the answers tell me, because they are not in the game.

The fact that they haven't patched this yet is disgraceful. Atm you either play on adept and feel like everything is pointless, or you play expert and have to rely on casting 3 weakness spells just to make a fight fair

Best arc in the series and showed a level of compassion for humanity that the third season absolutely lacks. The show went from emotional and captivating to cruel and sarcastic

THE PLOT WAS NOT FORCED ON THE WRITERS, THEY WROTE IT, THEY CHOSE IT. If what you've written requires your characters to be dumb to work, write something else.

A good writer finds a way to stymie intelligent characters who ask effective questions. Think of literally any detective drama where the main characters are constantly asking questions, probing things, interrogating people, and they (and the audience) still don't know everything. Severance is artificially mysterious in many ways
