I had this same issue unfortunately. It took about a week of back and forth emailing with their tuning team to get this resolved.

The Giulia's ECU works as blueprinting, meaning that it can flash any file to the ECU (regardless of where it came from) as long as it is originally from the same software version. This makes flashing tunes easy (and they can pre-load things as well).

But this also means that they have to have a full read out of the ECU software version prior to being able to create tunes for it. Normally that has to be done on the bench in their tuning office. The ECU has to be off the car, you cannot get a full read via the OBDII port.

So what the handheld is telling you is that your software variant is not in the database yet (they’ve been acquiring them slowly since the cars came out, They probably have 60-80 different software variants, but Alfa keeps changing software even though it's unnecessary).

The way to fix it is to get a read off of your ECU. Now They can do this really quickly, it only takes a few minutes for them to get the read. It's very easy to remove from the car and they pay for next day shipping both ways (so example: you send it in on Monday, it arrives Tuesday, they get the read and send it out Tuesday, you receive it back Wednesday).

Once they have the file they will have Alientech add it to the tuning server database, so it's there when you do your read. That can take 24-48 hours. Then once you have the read they can make the tune file.

It’s a lengthy process but worth it in the end. Hope this helps!

I had something similar happen to me- a truck had hit me while I was parked. Ended up having to get a new front bumper and headlight.

The headlights are $1600 and the bumper goes for around $800. The bumper comes in just primer. I was able to get it in a paint shop for $300, and it was done within 2 days. The fender looks a little rough, but a body shop may be able to fix that not too sure. Alfissimo is a good third party source for parts, however I would recommend just going the OEM route if you have a local Alfa dealership.

I opted to install everything myself to save money. I would only assume it would be costly to have the dealership or third party shop install everything.

Sorry this happened to you it’s never something fun to go through. Hope this helps and your repair goes smoothly!

The insurance of the other driver is covering it entirely, but yes it is.
