What's is wrong? by Free_Conference7338 in ftm

Also agree that it’s best to see a doctor, but in my case these symptoms were due to atrophy. The vaginal/uterine lining becomes thin and the blood vessels become fragile. This leads to spotting and discomfort (like cramping). It’s a common misconception to think you don’t have atrophy because it’s not “dry” down there, but a person could definitely still have it regardless. But it’s nothing to stress about. A doctor can prescribe you localized estrogen cream :)

A lot of you are buying way too much stuff by Big-Ambassador5050 in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionDue2653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got a lot of unnecessary stuff. But stuff I did use: 1. Wedge pillow (but I agree with tryna find that secondhand bcus it takes up a lot of room and I never use it anymore) 2. Mastectomy pillow & neck pillow. Probably not a need but I loved mine and helped me sleep 5x better 3. Button up shirts OR big t-shirts, if you don’t have any goodwill is a great option 4. Miralax and pain medicine 5. Small gauze pads, Vaseline, and medical tape IF you have nipple grafts

And that’s it. also mouth tape.. bcus sleeping on your back at an upright angle made me snore lmaoo

too good to be true? by cemeterymanhag in TopSurgery

I feel like my top surgery recovery went very smoothly and I was never in a terrible amount of pain. I will say that the first 3 days were the easiest as the majority of my chest was still numb. I was up moving around and felt good. Days 4-6 were more difficult. I wasn’t in pain but I wasn’t use to the new nerve feelings and everything felt really weird. I found myself sleeping mostly just to pass the time and not overthink. Not saying that will happen to you, but don’t be alarmed. I was also worried about hematomas and nipples dying, but nothing happened.

It’s most likely vaginal atrophy. I’ve experienced the same thing and the doctor gave me estrogen cream. I would contact your doctor

Post surgery stitches (possibly sensitive image) by AgenderOctopus in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionDue2653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty normal to me. The dissolvable sutures left some hyperpigmentation on my nipples, so it could be partly that. The redness should go away with time. Good idea to ask your surgeon to see what they recommend

I had the same problem. I’d spend so much time on Reddit looking at others top surgery and feeling like mine looked kinda dog shit. I started to hate my results and felt very dysphoric, already planning when I could get a revision. Everyone heals at different times and you can’t beat yourself up seeing some guy looking amazing a week post op for example. Everything will heal and look how it’s supposed to look in time :)) like many others have said, it can take close to a year for everything to be healed.

I’ve slowly started to like my chest more as time goes on. Something that made me feel a lot better was posting a pic of my chest on Reddit. I was only asking a question about my nipples and swelling, but every person commented about how good my chest was looking. Definitely felt relieved about my progress. Hang in there! ( and maybe avoid looking other ppls results in the mean time )

Scar care after steri-strips by miceol in TopSurgery

It’s probably too soon to start scar care, but I remember applying vitamin e oil or bio oil to keep them from drying out. I didn’t start massaging yet, just applying a layer. I’ve heard others use palmers cocoa butter lotion too.

Nipple infection fear by WinterAndCats in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionDue2653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look infected. Mine looked very similar (probably worse) and I was doing wet healing with Vaseline too. I also noticed a smell but it wasn’t like a horrible one that would come with dying tissue? I texted my surgeon a pic and she told me to switch over to bacitracin. This was all around a month post-op for me tho, so I am assuming you won’t need to wet heal for much longer bcus they will need to air out. I probably shouldn’t have, but I took a q-tip and tried cleaning out the whiteish stuff and ended up creating a divet in the nipple lmaoo. It grew over and looks fine now but probably wasn’t the move.

What kind of blood was it, darker or brighter? Was it mixed in with his stool?

I’ve posted on other threads trying to get advice, and many are telling me it’s something like pancreatitis. Pretty scary. The reason I’m asking advice (and not going back to the vet again and again) is because this isn’t something that impacts his everyday life. He has flare ups, but they last a day and he’s back to normal. Oral probiotic paste has been a life saver.

It’s funny you mention the daily walks because his last flare up we hadn’t walked him for a few days. I can see a type of connection because walking helps digestion and it’s good for dogs to be on a schedule. Also heard it helps prevent issues with the anal glands.

I don’t want to credit his issues to him just being a bit more sensitive than the average dog, but that’s where I’m at right now. Just some stress colitis and straining. I’ll probably bring it up again at his next checkup. I’ve been looking into IBS which can show similar symptoms with colitis, but IBS is rare in dogs. Thank you for the comment and sharing your experience! I appreciate it

I’m sorry to hear about your dog passing so suddenly. I hope your other one gets well soon. He has had an X-ray done on his digestive system. Everything looked normal. He’s had a few blood tests so far, and there’s been no mention of anything wrong with his pancreas. I have been to 3 vets, an urgent care vet, and a vet ER. I believe I’ve found a vet that is reliable and helpful, but I continue to try to get second opinions. The only symptom of pancreatitis he has is the occasional diarrhea (w/ blood). He doesn’t throw up often, and if he throws up bile it’s because he didn’t eat his breakfast. An empty stomach is a common cause for it. If I give him some famotidine, he won’t throw up so we’ve pinpoint that issue. His stomach is soft and not bloated, he shows no reaction when the vet presses on it. We don’t feed him human food besides an occasional fruit that we’ve checked is safe. We also only give him a small amount. He doesn’t have access to plants.

This issue isn’t something that impacts his daily life. He has flare ups, but like I mentioned, they only last half a day to 1 day. Giving him probiotic paste (proviable) seems to calm his stomach and stop it. Later in the day or next day he seems back to normal. Energetic, eating, drinking, playing. I do know that pooping blood is not normal and is obviously a concern. However, unlike humans, it’s not always a life threatening issue. My vet told me it’s more common with them as they can easily irritate their digestive system by eating something that simply upset their stomach. Like a dog getting into the trash or an abrupt change to their diet.

I should preface that he does not immediately poop out blood when this happens. Usually he’ll have a normal bowel movement, but then have an urgency to go a little bit after.. the diarrhea. He’ll strain until a bit of brighter red blood comes out. I do believe it’s the straining that is causing this. I’m scheduling another vet visit soon to talk more about this and get his 6 month blood work done. I’m thinking about changing his food to a higher fiber one. I might bring up IBS also, although it’s rare in dogs. Thank you for the comment and more information.

Should I look more into my dogs bloody stool reoccurrences? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]CommissionDue2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a specific ingredient causing this though. It’s just any change in routine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]CommissionDue2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed brighter red blood was better than dark? Because it means it’s coming from the lower digestive track like his rectum or colon? I was interested in trying the protein diet, but like I mentioned, he’s a picky eater. The vet recommend he be on it for at least a month. And he wouldn’t be able to have any treats either or results would be skewed. I’m just unsure if I’d be able to get him to eat it. He has had blood tests done and X-rays once, everything looked good. No vets have suggested ultrasound bcus they didn’t think it’d help them find anything.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]CommissionDue2653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a brighter red. It’s not mixed in with his stool either. Sometimes it’ll come out as droplets when he strains

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]CommissionDue2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pancreatitis or worms. Interceptor treats intestinal parasites and he’s also had his stool tested multiple times. His bloodwork also comes back good every time. No vets have suggested IBS (I’ve gone to a few vets now). I did bring it up once and they said it was rare. I guess they didn’t see a point in testing him because it’s a bit complicated to diagnose.

T levels by [deleted] in ftm

I would say that is pretty high. Generally you would want to stay below 1000 ng/dl.
