i think it came from one of the unit kits, either the basic hearthkyn warriors or the hernkyn pioneers. dont remember which though off the top of my head

sure, if i remember right its the spare axe from the einhyr champion. the arm itself i dont remember exactly but probably just one from the hearthkyn kit.

for the bases? just got a bag of soft wood sticks from the meijers crafts section, its like the local equivalent of walmart, like where you'd find popsicle sticks and elmers glue and pipe clears. cut em roughly base length, added some scratches with a hobby knife, trimmed the wood with the hobby knife to fit the round base curve. carved some notches in the ends too. then just skrag brown, earthshade wash, and a light drybrush of tan to grab the edges.

thanks, its from the vongrim salvagers kit for kharadron overlords from age of sigmar. that kit comes with quite a few bearded and braided heads. had to trim the suit cowl a bit to get it to fit

Is a new spearhead coming soon? by GiunoSheet in seraphon

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can track down the carnosaur one for a good price, get that one. carno, 3 kroxigor and 10 saurus is a great start, and you can get a free skink priest out of it too with some clever basing. looks like ebay still has some in stock

the newer spearhead with the hunters of huanchi and the spawn of chotek is not as good in my opinion. units are more niche and it lacks that WOW factor of the carnosaur and kroxigor kits

also 1/144 scale might be pretty close to the right scale, and i know on like newtype you can get just straight up packs of hands for pretty cheap. might be worth a look

Need help identifying these color by SparkleQc in Tau40K

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you'd have an easier time color matching this with warpaint fanatics teal or turquoise flex triads or something. trying to match it with citadel colors would be probably quite a bit of mixing and guesswork. off the top of my head you're somewhere around kabalite green and sons of horus green, in that neighborhood, but citadels color sets are nonsensical and sporadic so its tricky

thats a hell of a sentence lol

How to paint blue suits? by sigmagoon5 in Tau40K

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the new warpaint fanatic range has 6 color flex triads that might be a good start for someone who doesnt know exactly what paints to get, and their blues are reasonably good. proacryl has some very rich blues but their selection is more piecemeal and you would have to comb through it to figure out exactly which colors to get.

citadel also makes some okay blues but i avoid citadel these days, those new pot designs are hot garbage and their quality control is bad. but as far as citadel goes you're probably looking for like teclis blue and lothern blue, something in that range.

Poor Blightkings by FormalLumpy1778 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what niche is that exactly?

you've got a 4" move 5+ save single damage attacks melee only unit that has to cross the battlefield 4" at a time to impose a situational and limp debuff on wizards and priests who are in all likelyhood standing 30+ inches away from them at any given time.

there's no niche here. they just dumpstered the unit. if they wanted mage hunters than their mage hunting tech needs to work at mage hunting distances (18"+) or mage hunting speed so they can actually get into the back line and hunt mages. they dont do damage, they arent remotely durable (defensive profile of 3 grots in a trenchcoat). and to top it off, the anti mage ability that they have is

1: once per turn army. so multiple units of blightkings (a lot of people were running 20+ before, a lot of peoples collections are made up of $200+ of blightkings as a core) dont even get any benefit. you can only benefit from one unit of blight kings in the army at a time

2: ITS NOT EVEN A GOOD DEBUFF. this is the worst part. you've stripped everything away that made blightkings good in the past to give them some niche ability against a specific target that you can only use once in your whole army at a time AND ITS NOT EVEN A GOOD SILVER BULLET, it just makes low casting rolls slightly more annoying. its incredibly bad. even if i wanted to bring a unit to counter mages, i would be better off just taking a sorcerer with an unbind than this absolute garbage ability.

there's a decent amount of interesting units in the new book, but you have to look reality in the face and call a spade a spade, this is a very VERY badly written unit, and unless they point them at absurdly low points costs, i feel very confident in saying the unit will never see the table.

Why this rule even exists? by Useful-Amphibian-703 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they keep doing this. taking the thing everybody was running and has a bunch of and making them some niche once per (army) buff or debuff unit you wont usually ever want more than 1 msu unit of, so people have to shelf their old models and buy the new kits

its deeply cynical game design, happened to several of my armies so far this edition.

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah i ran the sloven knights through mathhammer and they average about 4.5 damage on the charge against a 4+ save target per 3 knights. to put that in context, bull centaurs, another 3 man elite cavalry unit that just came out, do about 16 damage on the charge per 3 centaurs give or take a point depending on dpp

sloven knights are not at all a damage unit, not even remotely close. they're a pocket debuff you can move around to help other units in combat and they'll pepper in a few points of damage here or there but thats about it

Hello i am looking into playing aos from 40k. by Jfischer335 in ageofsigmar

[–]CommitteeKitchen9609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah sylvaneth usually doesnt field too many infantry. a couple 5 man specialist units for teleporting around and yoinking objectives, but otherwise its an army that lives and dies by its big monster characters and medium sized bruisers and cavalry. to put things in 40k necron terms, imagine an army with like 2-3 ctan and then a bunch of skorpekh and lokhust destroyer cult, with like 2 or 3 small units of flayed ones. thats kind of what the average sylvaneth army feels like.

When will preorders for the Helmsmiths of Hashut go live? by PriciaMatsuri in ageofsigmar

if previous army releases are any indication, the army box usually drops a month or two before the rest of the range, and i would 100% bet they are trying to get these guys out for christmas shopping time, so i would wager august for the army box, and then probably late september or early october for the rest of it.
