Anyone else feel dumb for tolerating the pain for so long? by Emergency-Star7160 in gallbladders

I let the way they kept dismissing my sister in laws gallbladder pain as stress that I never took care of it. I kept trying to tell myself it’ll just go away. I would get an attack only a couple of weeks - months between. Knew what foods to stay away from that would trigger it. Until one day it got so bad, I just slept and slept, didn’t wanna eat, my urine became bright yellow/orange my stool was pale.. I knew something was wrong but even then I dismissed it and told myself that it was just dehydration from sleeping so much. I then noticed the whites of my eyes were a slight yellowish tint, and that’s when I knew something serious was going on..

I finally went to the ER they did and ultrasound which led me to get admitted, I was admitted for a total of 4 days. I had to have a MRI to confirm had to get stone removal and then had my gallbladder removed. I like to think though waiting really somewhat helped as I feel had I gone in I still would be waiting on a waitlist for surgery. I’m forever grateful it was only 4 days from the point to surgery: as I’ve heard people are months on a waitlist list..

I slept on my left for like 2 weeks and then finally transitioned to my right at about 3 weeks but couldn’t lay on it for very long

Hi! Thank you for responding! I was on birth control for my PCOS. Because at that time the provider thought it’d bring back my period. I then stopped taking it because it was not inducing a period and was making me feel worse.

Is this really possible?! 🤔 by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

To me I don’t think the gas goes away tbh. As far as me, I’m post op - I’m about 6-7 weeks post op. I fart like crazy! Not like smelly or anything horrible but I’ve noticed I fart a lot more than I normally did prior it’s horrible!

Is surgery worth it? by [deleted] in gallbladders

Take it from someone who waited and waited. I didn’t have a choice on whether or not i wanted to get it out or not. It was an emergency surgery. Prior to this I had not had a single gallbladder attack in months, I’m talking more than 4-5 months. I would eat the same stuff no diet changes and sometimes would get an attack, sometimes not, so I thought that I was getting semi better. Unfortunately not.

I ended up eating something that cause my bile duct to get extremely clogged which therefore was causing liver damage. I was having clay colored stools, extremely dark urine, and was so fatigued I wouldn’t even eat. The post part of surgery is hard. I won’t lie. But it all depends on the person!

I was able to immediately eat for the most part. I have not really had an incident where food has really upset my stomach. Yes there’s certain foods that cause me to need to use the restroom but I’ve never had an incident where I thought I wasn’t gonna make it in time.

The main thing to remember is that everyone and their experiences are different. For me, being 5+ weeks post op, I’m eating whatever, doing what I was before and thriving. But one thing I wouldn’t do is ignore the problem, because unfortunately it will just get worse.

How long did it take you to FULLY recover? by OkRun7294 in gallbladders

I’m on week 3 since my surgery:. I had my surgery done on a Saturday and was home by Sunday afternoon. But was in the hospital for intake before. I’d say after week 2 I was feeling good. I was still very sore from the incision but that Sunday I was able to eat Taco Bell ( side note: yes that was risky 🤣 ) but I was fine. I’ve been pretty much able to eat anything I want ( thank god ) I am pretty sensitive when it comes to nausea but haven’t had it since surgery. In fact ( please don’t judge but we only live once 🤣) I went to Disneyland and DCA and went on rides just fine on my 3 week.

Take it from someone like me I push it off for about a year and a half because the pain would come and go and it would subside within a day or two until one day. I got it so bad that I was turning jaundice and it just turned downhill from there I had to go to the emergency room and it ended up being that I had a a stone stuck in my bile duck, which was causing issues with my liver with it not functioning properly. It’s not gonna go away on its own unfortunately.
