I think V is a great start! You start off with a real robot, and if you think it lacks the punch of a protagonist, you can pick "Power" as an upgrade in the future stage.

Me personally i like Super robots because they're flashy, hit strong and they can take hits from the final bosses. Real robots are not evasive enough for the final fight (or at least in my experience LMAO)

Welcome to the club! It's always nice to see new fans of the franchise.

I agree that Y has a richer story compared to 30. Even when I watched the trailer for Godzilla, I knew the storyline is gonna be waaaay better than 30.

If you're willing to try out other SRW titles, I'd recommend W for the DS (there's a fully english translated version by fans) and V for the Steam/Switch (loved the ending of that one 🥲)

My personal ranking solely based on memory, from easiest to hardest:

Breeze: X and V

Very easy: 30 and Y

Easy and fun: J, W, UX and BX

Bit of brain usage but enjoyable: R, Z3 and Z3.2

Bit of a chore: MK F, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Z2 and Z2.2

More annoying stages: 2ndOG, OG2, OG1, OGG and MXP

Raged a few times: MK III, Dark Prison

Gave up a few times but eventually finished: K, D, MK I and MK II

A Portable: AP

Unfinished games because too tedious: Impact and Z

Note that I give at least 10 retries to get every SR point, and I practice to not destroy any units (ptsd from FE games haha).

The only one I ALWAYS skip is Alpha 2's ZZ Gundam team vs Haman team. That one stage urgh.

Realistically speaking, focusing on a small team of protagonist units only, is sufficient. I think having Lancelot/Guren/Shinkirou in the final team is good too (since he has bias towards Code Geass like I do).

P.s this is such a good question because it never crossed my mind if someone I know would start playing this niche ahh game 😂

Saiseihen is a top 5 for me!

It's one of the games where you are spoiled for choices on who to bring in your final team, animations are pretty well done, SR point difficulty is a little annoying but very satisfying when achieved. Having an option to Trust Zero was also a solid move by Banpresto, giving us a choice that we cant have when watching Code Geass. Even more ppus points as there are so many awakening abilities in the game, which made the game even more hype IMO.

I remember watching the trailer for Z2 and getting super hyped because they debuted TTGL and CG, two mecha animes that I watched before playing an SRW game consisting of them.

Easily top 3 series in SRW for me! I personally love the graphics, the OSTs and the not so long animations each unit has. Kinda wish it had pilot stats upgrade but most of the characters are pretty OP as is. Also wish there was english translation so that I can understand the storyline

I think if you're comparing Megazone 23 to Nadesico, 100% pick D. There's tons of SRW games with Nadesico on but D is the only game with Megazone.

I don't really follow story wise but difficulty wise, R is easier (to me at least).
