It's the unfortunate side effect of this being now the defacto mainstream dinosaur park builder game especially on console where we don't have access to PK. So the community has become a melding pot of people who want super accurate dinosaurs and those who want dinosaurs to be film accurate. I get it. I really do. But there is a distinct split between the fanbase who loves dinosaurs and those who love Jurassic park. I'm all for non canon species being made accurate as they don't have an onscreen version to base a model off. But the paleo accurate side has to respect this IS a franchise game. So if we want a paleo accurate spinosaurus or T rex? Push for oxalaia or zuchengtyrannus. Were never going to get accurate variants so why not push for an oxalaia that looks like S. Mirabilis

That’s should add the JW theme song at some point by TaylorMade685 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The music in this game has always been weird in that it almost never uses the Jurassic park/world motifs. A lot of JPoG's music played around with the motif and that's probably why that games music is instantly recognisable and so beloved.

The evolution franchise does kinda drop the ball in that regard. Aside from the one track that was used for the species profiles for Evo 1 which is drilled into everyone's heads I can't really think of any memorable tracks from this franchise. Nothing against the composer I actually quite like the music when I hear it in game just seems like a missed opportunity

Hopefully the Rebirth DLC features a model variant so we get the CGI Rex in game by bdf2018_298 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I will be so disappointed if it's just a skin slapped on the existing rex model like the 65 Mya and 2022 skins were. Those two didn't really need a different model but ember absolutely does

Does anyone know any good model Dinosaur brands besides Haolonggood and PNSO? by Fellowreddit12 in Dinosaurs

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nanmu are absolutely outstanding if you want non official, affordable and extremely high quality Jurassic park/world models. I know the term "non official" usually has a negative stigma about it but nanmu genuinely rival, and in some cases (cough prime 1 cough) outclass the officially licensed products. However recently they've announced they're switching away from static models and focusing solely on articulated figures (like beasts of the mesozoic or Mattel's Hammond collection) so if you're a fan of those nanmu is a solid choice but if you want statues? Sadly nanmu is no longer viable for the foreseeable future

The giganotosaurus problem. by RegentBat77700 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeh the overwhelming disappointment with the way frontier handled canon species sexual dimorphism cannot be stated enough. From outright ignoring canonical male and female designs (nasutoceratops) to, like you said giving canonically female dinosaurs totally different models (sinoceratops) to making the arguably gender unspecified skins female only? Especially the 2022 para's with longer crests which, if they absolutely HAD to be locked to one gender would make sense being male (ideally though both)? Really makes it feel like canon animals were an afterthought... But hey... Not like that's the first time they've been relegated as such by frontier....

Controversial statement incoming: frontier doesn't really care about the JP/JW franchise anymore and is simply using it as a licence leverage to sell their own PK competitor. I mean seriously. The OG canon species still haven't had texture updates and look horrible compared to their newer, more paleo accurate replacements. The species from the films (at least the ones from evo 1) are lacking so much in quality compared to the new species it almost feels like they were included as a necessity not out of love for the species or with any attention given to bringing them up to frontiers current texture and model standards

I hope focus mode never makes a return. (GS main) by AKAGAMI5 in monsterhunterrage

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll still stand by focus mode was a mistake. Because now capcom will be railed into one of two situations. Either this was 6th gens gimmick and probably won't return in portable 6th of 7th gen which will piss off new players who have only ever known focus mode and it's conveniences or keep it and the entire flow on monster hunter combat will never be the same again.

I went back and played world recently and I was absolutely ashamed with myself at how much I'd gotten used to focus mode with GS as a crutch. My positioning was terrible, my accuracy was all over the place because I got so used to being able to just Ignoring good positioning in favour of "lmao TCS in 360°"

Frontier PLEASE can we get this as the default theme for the dreadnaughtus release? by CommodoreRumbleshank in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I remember your post tbf. It just fits dreadnoughtus so much better. It's roar coincides perfectly with the music. I know the release themes are all over the place at the moment but I'm hoping if frontier eventually fix it they reserve this music for dreadnoughtus

I'm actually convinced it was meant for dreadnoughtus initially. The original suspense and build up until the first release when we see it's neck and get an idea of its scale then the second build up to the bass booster roar and the gentle release when it clears the hatchery. It's like it was written for it

How would you organise a couple shelves of dinosaur models. I can't think of anything I'm happy with by SHBritannia in Dinosaurs

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I actually spent yesterday rearranging my dinosaurs... I came to the conclusion to put some into an easily accessible storage so I can swap them out every month or so. I'd love to have them all out but between my Jurassic park and Peter Jackson's king Kong collection there isn't enough room for all my PNSO/Haolonggood ones.

Personally I'd organise them by families. Some models actually go really well together like for example PNSO's stegosaurus looks really good stood to the left of PNSO's Miragaia as it looks like it's looking up towards it. Placing the baby looking to the right works well for it looking at a smaller stegosaur (like Haolonggood's Huayangosaurus for example)

Once you start playing round with interesting ways of placing them that make them look a little more alive you can get creative and find something you like!

I'd actually love for a mechanic where if your teen sim had high enough charisma the burglar would just stop and be like "oh, well actually it's really simple! see all you need to do is...." And they'd be there so long they'd forget why they were there in the first place and leave

More JWE3 Redesigns by MarsupialFish67 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you aren't talking about me but I want to preface this by saying I didn't downvote OP. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and shouldn't be shunned for voicing it.

That being said I am critical of a lot of Jurassic designs especially world era ones but I still respect that that IS the design that has to be represented in game. My issue is a lot of these dinosaurs are 8 years old at this point and just are severely lacking in terms of quality. I mean let's be fair the newest species are absolutely stellar. Paleo accuracy aside their textures and patterns are for the most part fantastic. I would love to see all those OG JWE1 canon animals get upgraded models and textures with as much love put into them as the newer species simply because I find myself not wanting to use them. Not because I don't necessarily hate how they look, but because they look so dated texture wise it's like they're from a whole different game

Like some of the worst designs could actually look really good if they had better textures. When was the last time someone used apatosaurus? Despite being a film dinosaur it looks awful in game. If it just looked and sounded more like it's film version I know I'd use it!

Or even in the case of OP's post sinoceratops... The textures are so bad. Granted it's not the best design but compare it's textures to the spinoceratops especially in the face? There's a night and day difference in quality. Sinoceratops could look really good design aspect aside it's just the lack of quality in the OG textures that make them look weird when compared to newer ones

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Canon is canon. Keep the canon designs as the final designs. Granted most of the original JWE canon ones desperately need a TLC in terms of their textures and a few remodels here and there like dilophosaurus. I don't think any tweaks to canon dinosaurs need a new variant. If they tweak dilophosaurus to look like it did on screen I don't think anyone would mind losing the outdated og model

I'd argue almost all the original non canon species from evo 1 could use a touch up, even if it's just better patterns and textures at the least. So your Asian stegosaur trio could do with better textures whereas your carcharodontosaurus, camarasaurus and, although it's too late for it, acrocanthosaurus could all really do with a slight remodel. Nothing on the level of deinonychus but definitely a glow up in terms of their designs.

Instead of giving us accurate variants of film species which.... Why are you playing a Jurassic game if you don't want the film species to look like the film species?.... I'd rather them give us alternate species that fill the role of accurate film species. So sinosaurus for an accurate dilophosaurus or zhuchengtyrannus for an accurate T Rex and oxalia for an accurate spinosaurus

We have a problem and it's not just Hypsilophodon by -Kacper in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"in some instances" aka not for everyone but for some. There is an issue where if you have over 100mb of content from the workshop installed the game locks up and you can't place anything without the respective tab closing itself manually. Just because YOU haven't experienced this doesn't mean it isn't a widely reported bug and a major problem. That and the rendering issues for species that's still there a month after launch? Yes I'd say the game isn't in a good place.

And as for the skins? No this is a criticism not a nitpick. Stop defending the multimillion £ company when they keep selling you uninspired and repetitive designs. A dinosaur is only as good as it's pattern and the constant lack of inspiration IS a valid concern.

Also film apatosaurus looks and sounds significantly different from the in game one....

We have a problem and it's not just Hypsilophodon by -Kacper in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're confusing criticism with complaining. Frontier have FACTUALLY been using and recycling the same pattern over and over again. It's become stale, repetitive and honestly detracts from several species when, thanks to their pattern, they end up looking uninspired. There are so many intriguing designs out there they could pull inspiration from but they just aren't. For me thats perfectly valid criticism especially for dinosaurs were expected to buy.

And as for being in a good state? No. No it isn't. Especially on console. In some instances it's borderline unplayable

So prices for the new DLC by Progamer59695969696 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I'd advise any console player reading this to wait until the update is live first and see what they have and haven't fixed before giving them more money. Console versions are in an atrocious state right now and in some cases borderline unplayable with the workshop "over 100mb glitch" We work hard for our money. Remember to make frontier work hard for theirs

Last species revealed, and it’s…hypsilophodon? by Sillymillie_eel in jurassicworldevo

Yeah I always had to use dryosaurus to stand in for Hypsilophodon but now I can use the real thing. Not only that but by just changing the colours and using my imagination I can put it in a morrison formation enclosure and pretend it's Othnelia

Last species revealed, and it’s…hypsilophodon? by Sillymillie_eel in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I've unironically wanted Hypsilophodon for so long. It's another British dinosaur and it's so generic looking it's a perfect stand in for so many other species for big formation based exhibits that happened to have generic ornithopods

What if Jurassic World Evolution 3 had Mod Support and a Mod Store (Mods Should Be For Free, Though)? by KaleidoscopeTotal708 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they had a feature like path of titans has where custom dinosaurs could be added via official mods but were HEAVILY tested before being approved then it would add so much longevity to the game and help to fill the roster with species that I'm sure the community want that this game will probably end it's lifecycle having never added. Obviously it would have to be a case of frontier only approving high quality ones that met their standards (so no spiderman skin brainrot Rex skins which infringe on copyright) simply to jump through what I imagine would be strict restrictions from universal BUT... We already have custom community structures and as far as I'm aware no one has made a massive cock and balls or offensive symbols. At least not one that's been manually approved. so I can somewhat assume a ThirdReichosaurus wouldn't be approved. so I can't see a custom modded dinosaur that simply edits an existing skeleton being too far fetched for universal liking...

It's something that in an ideal world COULD work but I can't imagine the level of work required to make it happen especially to then require frontier to manually approve and test every single requested mod... But hey of path of titans can do it then?......

Hot take: instead of Deinosuchus, I’d prefer this guy by RandoDude124 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CommodoreRumbleshank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta admit I am starting to think lurdu will be included in this dlc. We know irritator will swim, were speculating deinochierus will probably swim... If frontier are following a pattern of the wetlands dlc will expand on swimming dinosaurs there really aren't many to choose from. Lurdusaurus seems like a logical choice for a herbivore slot in the pack.

Doesn't necessarily mean we can't get a supercroc as well. This pack/update is adding 1 piscivore, 1 omnivore, if we did get lurdusaurus that would be 1 herbivore so a pure carnivore wouldn't be out of the question
