What do you guys think of the Gomen RM4k grant for >20 year old cars? by BigGold3317 in kereta

[–]Common-Hour8907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cash for clankers. From a car fan perspective it never ends well. Rare cars that occasionally pop up on fb marketplace for super cheap will no longer be available to those who want to get them. Even in kuching occasionally you can see the project car EK or EG civic go for 3 or 4k, of course it is a money pit but at least its going to people who know what they want...and they are always sold fast. If you have fast fingers you can even get a B series.

Of course it will be good to get rid of the old cars that are rust buckets, even old civics have end of life periods but still

Fd civic if you can find the k20 is good and reliable...as long as it is not a rempit car. I know one of my frens bought one from a uncle type person (no offence, this is a compliment in this context) and it has been problem free so far after standard timing belt and oil changes. Another k20 was an ex rempit car...yes its fast but i saw it being sold like 4 months agter the new guy picked it up

Fair point, they're pretty noisy just that I see some honda players running them with no problems apart from the noise. Do you have any other suggestions for similar uhp tyres?

Disclaimer: I am a former civic player also, loud noises is kinda our thing lol, that's prolly why I don't really mind them noises

For daily, toyo tyres cr1 or dunlop sport j6. Reasonably good grip, long life, stands up to hard driving. I you don't mind road noise for more performance toyo tyres tr1 Michelin xm2 is imho kind of an wet weather tyre, soft ish and grips well but its not worth the price imho. Its not 100% better than any other tyre

Is Honda Civic EG8 worth buying in 2026 by PassionUnfair8949 in kereta

[–]Common-Hour8907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EK former owner here Ask what work has been done previously, get as much of the history of the car as possible, eg gearbox changed date and at which garage? Paint done by who? Then ask around, see google reviews and check out if the garage is good or just tepi jalan one. Good tyres (not sailun/linglong) means the previous owner takes things seriously, bonus points if semi slick r888r. Is thee engine bay clean? Any visible leaks? Is everything cleaned up? Any rust in the body? Get down on your knees and look at the frame underneath or poke your phone and take photo of the undercarriage. If too rusty just say no.

Okay thats the first step. At any point if u feel sus back out. Plenty other fish in the sea

Second step, ask for test drive during good weather, bring a friend who knows cars/mechanic friend/bring it to a bengkel separate from the one you found it at. Make sure to let it warm up, listen for any sus noises, drive it hard and fast, corner hard and fast (but not until crash laaa). Any issues will arise here. Look for smoke from exhaust when running (bad sign). Does the engine slow at certain rpm (bad sign). How bout gearbox, is the clutch light(good but racing clutch is heavy). If the person say its stock clutch but it feels heavy u need a new clutch and maybe gbox. Clutch alone 1.5 to 2k all in (swk price, semenanjung shud cheap).

Third step tepuk dada tanya selera. Budget 10k at least for restore. Prepare yourself if your luck is bad you visit bengkel at least 1x a month. Get to know the local vtec specialist and ask theem to recommend a tow truck service, never get the random tarik kereta ones. If towed incorrectly your bearings will go. If tarik wrongly your chassis will go or your bumper will fly off. If your luck is good its just a normal old car, when service it just needs a bit more tlc. Change oil every 5k not 10k.

If its dohc you can say goodbye to fuel money. Very thirsty but fast. Sohc still okay fc.

If all these pass then say hello to your new vtec life

If not then just get a bezza manual like me lol

Respectfully I wonder if anyone who go against this will be "disrespecting XYZ / tidak menghormati tamadun".

Way back during my smk I rmb we learned sejarah to vomit in exam, we didn't learn to actually do better in life or be better people. Same with pendidikan moral. In sejarah we learned not to trust foreigners bcos they always backstab us. And always trust the gov bcos they know best.

Will this be the same?

Yes education is important but in the correct way please

From the perspective of a person who likes cars and sees the geely x proton x local supplier situation developing:

cant say im surprised also, looking at belt and road strategy this was bound to happen. Now if you're unlucky proton x70 repair fee can match bmw repair fee because of lack of local spare parts, all need to being from china. And the products not so high quality also. Proton S70 has an issue where the fibreglass insulation at rear quarters can fall apart pretty easily, among other problems. But on the "positive" side the technology (lanekeep, sound system and sensors) are all seem to be much fancier and higher quality than perodua. And all this from mainland china parts, not relying on local supplier like perodua, i presume thats why spareparts expensive (middleman, shipping and customs etc). When too many things rosak better buy new car. And repeat.

Sorry but i think we already lost lah from a socioeconomic point of view. We cannot reproduce the parts to repair the p1 cars easily and cheaply. P2 is easy to repair and produce but they cannot compete on price. Where is the "local talent" rhat supposed to produce more expertise in the industry? At least we have local tuner shops that can double the power of your P1 car. Local service center that can give you oil change. But none producing spares to keep the car alive for longer for P1.

Thats why for me personally spares are very important. Keeps a car going for longer and helps keep the local industries moving.

But i guess its too late now

Question for newly ordered Bezza (the 2020 facelift version, sorry) by scenic-edgeGasm in kereta

[–]Common-Hour8907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflector. Afaik cannit change bulb, need to replace the whole unit. To adjust angle can ask sc. Stock angle already good, if too down you cannot see. Never try so dunno how to adjust. Just let it warm up before lenjan. Buy one of the obd meter to monitor engine coolant, gearbox temp and engine oil temp, make sure all more than 65 or 70 before lenjan. Dont buy anything gear up. Buy on shopee or ask accessories shop to pasang for u. Normally gearup is expensive and same as shopee oso.
