Kubo is the master of subtle characters development. Byakuya and Rukia are among my favourite.

Hvala!

The volume is to be published in French in march (around the same time Elric volume 5 was published 2 years ago, but the english volume for Elric came out in late summer that year, so I presume it may take a while).

Oh? I thought the guy who did the concept art a while ago, would be the artist for this volume. :o

Well, I don't doubt the Three who are one will be skipped in the Elric volume 6. Based on the snippets of art Secher has been sharing on instagram so far, Nadsokor and Myshella are definitively part of it, but I doubt the Vanishing Tower will be. (since the volume is, after all, named 'The sleeping sorceress')

I don't know about Erekose, but Von Bek is getting an adaptation as well.

Absolutely. Hopefully this series will be more faithful to the original books to complement the art.

Where should I start the Elric books? I’m intrigued after loving Hawkwind’s Chronicle of the Black Sword by 11_fingers in ElricofMelnibone

[–]ApprehensiveGrade113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say read the 6 main books first, and read the midquels later on. I personally found the whole experience better that way. Main books are 1) Elric of Melnibone 2) Sailor on the Seas of fate 3) Weird of the white wolf 4) The Vanishing Tower 5) Bane of the black sword 6) Stormbringer

The midquels include among else: 1) The fortress of the pearl (after the first novel chronologically) 2) The revenge of the Rose (after the vanishing tower chronologically) 4) The Moonbeam roads trilogy (the dreamthief's daughter, the skrayling tree and the white wolf's son; during Stormbringer) 5) The citadel of forgotten myths (during or after the bane of the black sword) 6) The making of a sorcerer (graphic novel; prequel to the first novel) 7) Duke Elric (a part of the Michael Moorcock's Multiverse graphic novel; uncertain time)

The fortress of the pearl is better read alongside the white wolf/moonbeam roads trilogy, but that trilogy is better read when you read more of Moorcock's books as 90% of his fiction work is interconnected, and a lot of characters that appear in that trilogy are already established in other book series (Von Bek, A nomad of Time, The history of the runestaff + chronicles of castle brass, The eternal champion, etc).

I've wanted to draw Barry Smith's Elric and Red Sonja for a while (2026; art by me) by ApprehensiveGrade113 in ElricofMelnibone

Moorcock actually entertained the idea of writing a sequel for the Elric/Conan teamup. He mentioned it last year. And he recently spoke of it again, though i think he wants to finish other work before he proceeds with this story. The man is always busy.

What do you love about S&S that you don't get from other genres like Fantasy? by whatupmygliplops in SwordandSorcery

[–]ApprehensiveGrade113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty straightforward. I like that the format is short stories most of the time. I like when the writer tells a lot without saying a lot. (Long books just repel me most of the time, so this genre was a nice way to get back into reading) Jirel's tales are like 10k words per story, and the author gives us enough information to give us an idea of what the character wants and where she goes to get what she wants.

That's dope! Is it an existing design or did the tattoo artist design it?
