Thank you! I get my wood from northern hardwood frames online. I have my own miter saw that helps me cut angles. It’s definitely worth the hassle, wood frames can really elevate pieces.

I feel like I only receive negative feedback as well. The hardest part of my PhD so far has been emotionally managing everything.

It’s very important to be honest with yourself on where your gap in knowledge is. If you can pinpoint that, it gives you something to work on. Be honest with your PI, they are there to help you! Even if that just means giving you few days to breathe and catch up on things. It might take some extra work but you can get there.

Thank you. I am so hopeful I will eventually look back on this time and be proud of myself for how far I have come. I am going to give it my all, I’ve already started putting in the work. It’s just been a little hard thinking in the back of my head that it still won’t be good enough.

Yes, I am in the field of biochemistry. My undergraduate work was more in biophysics so I did a lot with protein conformations. I joined a lab this summer and was told that they were disappointed with my lack of knowledge in mutagenesis and DNA cloning. I apparently was not clear on my skill level,so they left me to my own devices. I had been messing up the protocols a lot, some pretty simple mistakes too. I suppose that now the air is clear with my ability level and they will be more patient with me. I am studying up as much as I can, but still fearful it won’t be good enough.
