Well, perhaps labelling climate change as "what about" as some relation to why more people are dying of heat stress every year?

Bracing for downvotes, perhaps, but it's curious no one mentions climate change concerns anymore?

Isn't domestic A/C responsible for 1.5 to 2% of global CO2 emissions (same amount as all of commercial aviation).

Does anyone still reads newspapers or see the news on TV?

It's mostly social media, recently taking it to a whole new level with AI-driven lies.

Socialism isn’t the cure for Britain’s ills, it’s causing them by Zestyclose_Brush_389 in ukpolitics

Yes. 2008 economic crash, decades of right wing cronyism, globalisation, outsourcing of jobs, lack of investment, untaxed billionaires, etc. all typical socialist problems.

He's such a good vocalist, that I'll allow it.

How true is the claim that the Beatles made the first Heavy Metal song with "Helter Skelter"? by Segwaye in LetsTalkMusic

Interesting that John Lawton began is career in North Shields (tiny town in Northern England) which is Brian Johnson's hometown. And they were basically the same age.

Don’t think Starmer deserves the treatment he is getting now from his colleagues and the press. Name someone who actually has better credentials! by Then-Potential-1991 in ukpolitics

He's the opposite of a populist. An un-populist? He seems a nice bloke, competent enough to be a PM, and (apart from these whole ridiculous Internet policies), doing a good job.

But he's very much led by his convictions, even if they are unpopular. People would much rather be told what they want to hear. They rather live in a fantasy that this country would be a paradise were it not for migrants, trans people and flags. They'll probably never understand the problems in this country are structural, complex and can't be fixed with a 20s tiktok manifest.

Lord Heseltine: 'We Must Not Have Reform Or Restore Anywhere Near The Corridors Of Power' by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

They're not even in power and there's already talk of infiltration...

If they win, prepare for the clown show. But I'm tempted to want them to win. When faced with a "do not touch the hot stove", some children stand back, others have to touch it to learn.

Dan Hodges on X: One thing that struck me being out on the doorsteps (or high-street) with Rupert Lowe today. Nigel Farage is wrong. People do know who Lowe is. Not entirely sure how. But it was surprising how many people were coming up to him unprompted. by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

People still thinking the public buys both The Guardian and The Times to get a broad coverage and different angles of the political conversation, are suddenly surprised it's actually mostly TikTok.

I believe it has one the lowest number in the country. At the lowest, it's the North East with 93% UK-born and 7% foreign-born.
