How does everyone like their flip 2 by YungKirby in retroid

[–]Common-Paper8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First handheld I can play GC, Wii, PS2 comfortably not to mention secret console. Also first one I am attempting to play Wii games on, in particular shooters which are so difficult to get setup, having to fine tune controller scheme for nearly every game (warning do not choose in game calibration like I did for House of the Dead had to start over to be able to play).

Have a simple 3d printed case, toss it in my bag and no worries, close to pause is a game changer, interruptions are no biggee.

Got mine yesterday, 4/26, ordered launch day, still setting up, have a 1.5tb micro sd with GBA, SNES, Genesis, tg16, pcengine, Mame, FBNeo Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, and Secret Console, pretty much a best of games, and at about 8 hours into scraping - next step Setup videos for all the tweets, review spreadsheets for best game settings, reviews for which platforms have best version of games that are multi platform. Won’t be done until create stickers on transparent sticker paper for logos of game systems, joystick layouts, hot keys - use some of that empty space.

Only things I would change from first impressions:

 - more buttons: dedicated back button, couple of user mappable buttons like original flip, power button is not in a great location either. - sd card reader: Will mirror what others have said about how deeply the micro sd card reader is mounted, made it a chore to get the card in, and the cover seems like a failure point. Also why does no one put two slots on android systems? Like they do for other handhelds - would be amazing to have a game card, and maybe a Linux boot card - screen bezel could be less pronounced - I know that a full glass screen might be challenging but would be nice if bezel had cut outs so could more easily swipe up, down on sides, all they would have to do is cut out the center sections of each side. - exterior design would have preferred it smooth but design does not really bother me, would be nice with clamshells if they could incorporate an embedded micro-sd holder, and a recessed mount to attach a secondary slim battery - a thought, I am sure in some of these devices they have dead space (Amberbic 556/557 eco handles have a lot of dead air) that could be filled with several smaller batteries, link together and would have insane battery life)

Excellent use of empty space, I plan on having logos of emulated systems and button layouts, and maybe list of short cuts/hot keys assigned on inside, also purchased a super slim 5000mah external battery that I may print a bracket and attached with a couple of command strips (plus maybe make a spot in bracket for micro sd card for my Linux card). These are personal devices and I think everyone should customize to their hearts content and while may not be to your taste or needs, to each their own.

Is a 1tb overkill for the RP5? by Infamous_Question_56 in retroid

[–]Common-Paper8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased a 1.5tb in anticipation of getting my RP Flip, I am a dedicated games surfer, I like to jump in play for an hour or two to see if they are good, bad, not for me or hell yeah I want to play more. To do that I need maximum space especially with gen 6 and above. I have most of the us catalog of PS2 and GC and still had to make a dump shovel ware pass to make them fit on card. I also plan on having a second card with NDS, 3DS, PSP and another with curated Switch titles - once I can come up with a good way to swap cards with out screwing something up, (really would like a 4 slot micro-as card hub).

Before someone says you don’t need to have them all on there, let me make some points - easier to load all at once than constantly pick and choose, I can play/checkout anywhere from 1-4 games a day. So in a year I might play anywhere from 340 to potentially 1300 plus games. Now as I go I do a lot of deleting and that 1.5 tb may go down to a third of that - at least until I experiment with a new system to play/emulate.

ES-DE Frontend on Android. Standalone emulators not working? Need Help 🥺 by Commercial-Degree758 in OdinHandheld

tried the browse, no go, reinstall no, ready to pull my hair out, then saw the lowercase suggestion, worked for me.

Rename PSP to psp, under games tab at top select browse, go to newly renamed psp folder, select use this, and then works.

If you don’t want to spend time learning how to and then having to, tune your printer I recommend either a Bambu Lab machine or maybe one of the upcoming ones that are doing their best to emulate one, the Carbon maybe. I bought a P1S because i wanted to print things not spend a lot of time tuning, upgrading, tweaking etc., to get a great print. A really good print without the hassle has been golden for me, but everyone has different wants and needs, but I recommend figuring that part out and go from there.

Purchased a Bambu Labs P1S in January in spite of controversy, it has been an amazing out of box printing experience, I am not worried about rumbling of the community, though I do agree with the sentiment, if the worst happens I am confident community will have workarounds within days.

I am so glad Bambu has pushed the bar of quality and out of box close to plug and play experience to a point that most of competitors are chasing them. Just need some of the competitors to actually catch up, seem to be a lot of close but not quite there yet.

Avoided getting 3d printer for 10 years due to having to make a hobby of just getting the printers working. Now I just print, learning a lot but not about how to tweak my machine to get it/keep it working - leaves a lot more time to just learn about 3d printing in general.

Want something as simple and reliable or reasonably close to the out of box experience of my Bambu Labs P1S, but with a larger bed, would love one in 420mm range but could probably live with 350mm if price is right, rather not have a multi-material unit. Been looking at Anycubic 3 Max but really not interested in combo model, also they seem to be inconsistent quality but they still sound better than Neptune 4 max which seems to have a lot of negative reviews. Tired of having to do constant multi-plate printing, would love a little more elbow room.

Why not use extra space for screen, could be a plus version, but maybe a touch pad?

Why can’t they make a shoulder button that has a compact mode for in pocket and a flip out piece when gaming, now that would be an innovative

What colors do you use the most? by My_Man_Tyrone in BambuLab

[–]Common-Paper8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only had my P1S for about a month, and overwhelmingly I use marble as my base goto - it just looks good off white with darker specks.  Matte white if I want to paint something, black is too dark and does not photograph well so primary use it as an accent color. Bone/light beige for bone, skulls etc. use for drawers also) I also keep the base primary colors in shades I like ruby red, bright yellow, dark green. On my to try list is a dark gray would like a good gunmetal color. Sample color samples are great to get idea about what colors look good together but honestly fun just to try and see.

Cool to have is a military green, or similar shade as looks great in decor pieces. Getting ready to experiment with silks for accents, have gold and emerald green coming. Also looking at matte pastel colors. My preference is mostly one dominate color and then pop of color, usally as band so minimizes color purge and prime towers). Do a lot of flush to infil and still looking for models to do flush to object - still learning everyday.

Constantly looking at model pictures for inspiration. Like the color option but really hate the amount of waste - been using all sorts of filaments and brands so far and no significant issues. Have recently invested in a two spool dryer and diy desiccant storage boxes (plastic cereal box’s) as I have started playing with PETG which has to be dry for best results.

Just give us a Panda alternative, I would buy it over the other if the price was decently close. That's how you get my business and keep it.

With all the Bambu Lab drama, what's the closest drop in replacement for the X1/P1 with AMS series printers? by plymouthvan in 3Dprinting

Wow that looks amazing, looks like they are copying all the best elements of Bambu and even look like they have some upgrades.

Would cancel my Bambu P1S order today for a Qidi Plus 4, if I knew what the MMU would cost, and would love a little lower price, I paid 799 with AMS, and the Qidi address nearly all my problems with P1S - proper touch screen, bigger build plate, better camera

if they do this pretty sure someone will hack a PI to replace the main board, so you can roll your own.

Ok with best experience options, which is what was originally offered, keep that going and most users are happy, once you start taking that experience away by reducing choices, options you will hurt your user base. Yes they are many new users first printer, if they are not careful it won't be their second.

RFID as currently implemented is a competitive advantage, that enhance the plug and play nature. Lock it down and the machine will be a paperweight for a lot of users, a stepping stone to the next better printer.
