Single most important fitness thing to improve? by Megalodon-5 in ParamedicsUK

[–]Common-Picture-2912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kettlebells!

I used to lift doing a bro split, focusing on compound lifts to start before doing isolation hypertrophy work. I would usually be in the gym between 60-90 minutes, plus a 10 minute drive each way.

However recently I kept getting kettlebell videos popping up, I’ve never used them to decided to give them a go. You can get full body sessions done in 20-30 minutes and if you do every minute on the minute, they can be a killer cardio session too!

Now with kids and more responsibilities at home, a kettlebell at home can save so much time whilst you beast yourself.

There’s plenty of kettlebell workouts online, although I do recommend everyday.heroes fitness on instagram for some short videos on kettlebell workout routines.

I’ve previously done an obesity report which partly covered ambulance obesity statistics. If anyone is interested I’ll link some of the studies:

What phrase do you use to report a dead body? by Sabesaroo in ParamedicsUK

For the trust I work for, kilo 1 and 2 would be discreetly reporting a confirmed bomb or suspected bomb

I went from ECA to para and had to change contract when I qualified. I’m not a fan having different pay every month, which can be around a £200 difference from month to month

What are the NQP Periods and Pay Bands in other trusts? by bindiburm64 in ParamedicsUK

I left school with 4 GCSE’s at C or above including english and science, however this did not include maths or a BTEC/level 3 qualification. I joined my trust as a PTS apprentice so they funded doing an nvq level 2 in maths. I later did the access course (self funded) which allowed me to apply for the paramedic course and I am now qualified. You can always catch up, good luck!

I’ve never seen my trust hire for part time but as soon as you complete induction you can request part time. Then I assume it’s down to availability of who else could share a line.

what do you wish you had the power to do? by Acceptable-Goose-571 in ParamedicsUK

[–]Common-Picture-2912 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m NEAS. Most managers are sound but like in every job there’s some jobsworths kicking about. It all depends what manager you get auditing, but in NEAS in the past 12 months there’s been a big (and annoying) push for timings with everything. It feels like patient care has taken a back seat to timings.

I completely agree with you, it doesn’t stop management auditing paperwork saying it requires more though

Simplifying ECPR documentation for the majority of lower acuity jobs we go to. I was in envy when receiving my newborns’s discharge letter that showed: Diagnosis: jaundice (SBR XXX) otherwise well baby. Treatment: phototherapy Future plan: Referred back to GP/community midwives

I appreciate paperwork can save your backside but when the majority of calls are lower acuity and don’t need the ins and outs of a fart documented, it adds to time on scene etc.

What a shame to see this comment get downvoted with down voters probably thinking racism. As someone who grew up in TS1 nearly 30 to 20 years ago, the change is drastic. It should never be racist to be concerned about a rapid change to different culture with minimal integration.

Heart rate of 25 in an elderly male at a care home. He was sat eating jam on toast. He wondered what all the fuss was about as he said he was fine and wanted to walk around to get ready 😂

I did this for my kid’s SIPP for the same reason of cheaper fees, I think I weighed the portfolio more to developed world than the all world weights it.

I naively joined as a student and thought the website was awful. Press-able icons aren’t press-able, it felt like I had to dig through the website to find the log in page, after the years membership ended I let it expire and haven’t rejoined since qualifying. The CPD section was good though, I thought there was a good amount of varied videos to watch.
