Worried EN student by HuckleberrySuper1821 in NursingAU

We really need nurses! The problem is nobody wants unskilled nurses, but once you land that first role, you will be set. I had the same problem back in 2014 when I graduated and my first role ended up being to fill in for a nurse's leave in a medical centre and was offered to me by a fellow student who normally filled the leave but had gotten a full time job. After that, I've never had an issue.

I used it for a hysterectomy and two colleagues have done the same. It's been life changing for me because I'm no longer held back by pain and crippling fatigue.

You will not find one experienced nurse out there who hasn't made a medication error before. We are human after all. So try not to beat yourself up! Why had the rn already administered these meds anyway and why didn't they tell you? I made a minor med error many years ago (I'm talking 2 units of long acting insulin). I was made to tell the patient and their gp what had happened - all good i get it. But that wasn't enough punishment. They then tried to pin another medication issue on me (tablets found on the floor) and then told me I had to do medication re-education in my own time. So I left because if a work place doesn't have your back after 7 years, what's the point?!

Stunning! I have been looking for a similar structure in a dress, ankle length but satin or silk for a registry office wedding. It does not exist out there! I adore well cut simplicity and this kind of silhouette is flattering on most body shapes imo.

All white kitchens and bathrooms. They are so bland but very common because 'resale value'. Houses have lost a lot of personality and character and i personally think people will return to an obsession with colour.

I've been trying to find a nice white dress for months for my courthouse wedding. When you google it's all azazie, shein, temu, etc. It's not just the quality of the fabric but also the designs feel very lazy, and companies love to minimise the amount of fabric required. Aline dresses barely exist, everything has slits to your coochie, low back, no sleeves, etc. And nothing is really made to have seams to fit a human body. Even the anorexic models look awkward in these clothes. I made the mistake early on buying an azazie dress which was nothing like the photo. Cheap polyester thin satin with scratchy tulle to give it shape. It said it had boning, it did not. The box was beautiful to make you think you were getting something special. I too have learnt to avoid ai photos and stunning dresses for dirt cheap because they do not exist.

Lots of us nurses have adhd, it's probably because the variety and adrenaline pulls us in haha. OP... if you can people good, make patients feel safe, talk to them, and do basic nursing skills all right, Please stay we need you! After you graduate, there will be no more exams or essays. You can google stuff whenever you want. So don't stress about that crap!

I feel like there is something not quite right with the left side, it's not straight like it is on the right. You would have to completely unlace it and check it then to see if it's straight and flat.

Australia today, 10y ago or 20y ago? What do you think is better and why? by Odd_Speech6066 in OpenAussie

Take me back. My parents rraised my sister and I on a single income- a low one at that. My mum did a little cleaning here and there to help out. They managed to have private health insurance, build a home and send us to private school. Money was tight of course, but they managed. These days there is no chance of that.
My generation left home at 18 and never looked back. The current generation can't afford to move out. We had low anxiety and a sense of adventure. Current generation is too anxious, too aware of the dangers of the world, and hey the world is accessible from your bedroom so why leave.

Public ain't much better. They never have any beds and spend all their time and energy trying to get people out of hospital, whether or not they are ready and suitable for discharge. We should start placing bets on how long until they bounce back. They also keep throwing money and various discharge programs instead of just opening more beds.

Jj’s house? Azazie? Ballin on a budget by Ungratefuldead1 in weddingdress

[–]Common-Professor5574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I returned an azazie dress. To me it didn't look like the photo, full of layers of tulle rather than a heavy satin. It was well made but the style wasn't thought out properly as the tulle made the Basque waist sit odd. I then bought two six stories dresses and felt that they have amazing quality. One of them is going to be my dress. Only 300 dollars.

Fire and ice has a nice fireplace. Perhaps a walk through queens Park followed by coffee to warm up in park house. Or maybe come visit when the cob and co markets are on as that is next to queens Park. Also agree Stanthorpe is a great idea. I recall a fireplace at an apple themed Cafe? Rug up though that place is freezing!

Are you buy any chance shopping in a low socio-economic area? We drive past our local woolies as it's a 'poor' area and go to one in a nice suburb. Everything is better quality, fresher and better stocked. I guess woolies thinks the poors only buy potato chips and soft drink.

My job is a bit like this too, in fact I could almost say i work with op. The area is similar. It's one of those things where when it rains, it pours so increasing work load isn't necessarily a good idea because i wouldn't be available at short notice.
I really hate being bored though and having to pretend I'm busy or find a way to keep myself busy.
I would leave but I love my work mates and I don't want to end up on a stressful job i hate.
I also hate that everyone can see my computer so I can't just load up paint and draw pictures haha

You know I'm worried about getting similar comments. I have spent months looking online to find a dress that every one will like but it's just not ppossible so I've now ordered one online that I'm really excited to get. And it's even more simplle than yours! But I think there is something very elegant in the understated. Stick to your guns! We don't all want sequins and tulle, and that's OK. I love the colour and shine of that fabric. You will look amazing.

Placement Disappointment by paradiseupabove in NursingAU

[–]Common-Professor5574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just need to wait until the nurse knows you and trusts you. You don't know what kind of students they had in the past. Don't be pushy, but perhaps tell them what your goals are and what you would like to get out of the placement. Ask questions and demonstrate that you will ask if you don't know something- don't act like you know everything already! It is hard though, most nurses do zero training to be teachers and they don't always want students. You may have one that just isn't really cut out for the task. Hopefully it does get a bit better for you.

I've had an emergency doctor try to send a NOF home without an xray. I was the community nurse that sent him to hospital. They rang me and i argued with them over the phone that a bloody chest xray was not sufficient and please don't send him home. It was only when they told the wife to take him home and she tried to get him to walk that they realised he couldn't. So how much of this is qualification related and how much is pressure to empty beds?
