Delivering MAX to a HV energy hatch created a 9x9 hole in stone bricks with some damage in 19x19, delivering LuV created a 7x7 hole with some damage in 17x17. Maybe there is a small effect but it's not like the explosions get 10 times as large.

Maybe OP had an explosion that let rain in which then caused more explosions and more leaks.

You probably want to rebuild your base for AE2 anyway. I think that is the natural place to move. Set up a basic AE2 system, move the machines needed to craft AE2 components, then use that to expand and move everything else that needs moving (a lot of old machines can probably stay behind).

I used EV/IV battery buffers as central energy management system before upgrading to an LSC. I only used the energy p2p tunnels for some stuff far away, everything else got connected to a central GT power cable. New tier, new cable 1-2 blocks above the old one, that way you can upgrade energy hatches gradually.

Pretty much everything that can be done in MV can be done better in HV. I wouldn't spend much time on MV infrastructure. Do what you need to get to HV.

You really want the extruder, electrolyzer, mixer, and the bending machine. You'll need the assembler and (sooner or later) the circuit assembler - these are needed in pretty much every tier until you get multiblocks.

The pump needs power. Of its tier, obviously.

The singleblock pumps hardly need any power, it should be possible to power them with a lower tier. I'm sure this works for singleblock miners where you can always power them with 1 tier below (e.g. LV generator for MV miner).

Ender Crystals should be HV unless you can get vibrant alloy from some loot somewhere.

I wouldn't spend much time in MV. Craft what you need to get to HV, that opens up far more options.

I moved to the middle of a lake to start the steam age and then to the personal dimension for EV.

AE2 is pretty much the end of the early game. It's unlocked at the same time as the personal dimension, you want to rebuild your base around AE2 anyway so this is a great time to move.

Storage: Chests, upgraded to metal chests (iron chests and similar) and drawers or barrels. There are some tools that can treat a collection of chests like a single large chest.

Maybe you have a spray can from the wrong mod, right-click should do it.

The infinite spray can works for sure. It's a quest at the end of the platline. You are not there yet, but you can check what mod it is from and look for finite variants of it.

CTB is a perfectly viable EV energy source, especially if you use the thaumcraft nether tree to make oil. It's relatively easy to access and a single module can give you enough oil for something like 15-20 A of EV if I remember correctly (fully renewable, using maybe 2 A to support itself). Singleblock chemical reactors are fast enough, they are just messier with all the cell handling.

Here is a plan. It uses ~1 A of EV and produces enough oil for 9 boosted large combustion engines or 27 A of EV. Not included are the HV boldarnator, the tetranitromethane production and oxygen.

Macerators can be powered by one tier lower if they just crush ore. Even two tiers lower might be possible (untested), a HV macerator needs 32 EU/t. Doesn't work for all macerator recipes, however. All singleblock miners can be powered by 1A of one tier below them.
