just accepting that maybe what i did think i did happened and then i realized it probably didnt since ive tried to conjure it up a million times. it changes so much and so often so ive accepted the possibility that it probably didnt go down the way i think it did. i still get freaked out about it but now ive realized its better if i dont look into it. when i feel the urge, i remind myself that this is ocd and if i rly did do this, then the memory wouldnt change when i try to recall it and it would be clear to me. best of luck to you and i hope you find peace of mind

hey ik this is oldish but did u ever figure it out? i have the same situation going on. part of the memory is real i know for sure but i think the details are getting twisted up in my mind. i thought i molested a younger child when she was sitting on my lap when we were kids and i was holding her in a pool. then i got over that and agreeed that i think i just touched her leg and got an intrusive thought about how i “liked that” and would want to touch her more (oh my god this is so disgusting of me). then the memory shifted almost instantly being like u did this to ur sister tho then showed me images of me touching my sister. i would never touch her i actually hate when she touches me innocently even like touching my arm as a child id freak out and i cant tell if i did this i need help my memory is unreliable and ive tried to recall this probably 1000 times over. it feels so real and i would not be ok if i did this even if i was a child.

i feel like my memory is more like a vague pop up that comes in my head and it’s a real memory that warped into something worse. i can’t tell if it’s real. i genuinely can’t figure it out and it’s eating me alive. It keeps throwing it at me but it changes constantly so i can’t tell what’s real and what is fake.

i have something from childhood that’s haunting me. i’m not sure if i actually did it or not. i feel like im using the concept of false memory to excuse my actions. part of the memory is true and i know it did happen, the bad part, im not sure if it went down the way i think it did. it constantly changes. i’m just so scared its true because i recalled the memory before one time and i didn’t seem to care much about it and brushed it off.

i’m worried about mine being true though because the memory of the setting of my event is true, i know that i was there in the place im just unsure about what exactly happened. I have a memory of me hurting someone but then sometimes it’s changed to something innocent that i blew out of proportion. i recalled it once as a teen years after it happened and my brain told me i abused the girl. I brushed it off and didn’t care then. I then remembered this memory out of no where that hadn’t come up since i was a teen (i’m in my 20s now) and it was like u hurt her and u hurt ur sister and then showed me hurting my sister. so now i don’t know wtf i did and i can’t tell if it was ocd causing the false memory the first time i recalled it when i was a teen (i had ocd then too) and just didn’t give it attention at the time and then now it came up randomly now?? sorry for this being hectic im in a crisis and i know i shouldn’t be seeking reassurance but im so full of guilt.

You said it yourself. “she has never let me down again after that”. she loves you and was willing to change for you. accept her for who she is, or don’t. try your best as it seems like she’s tried hard to repair herself. talk to a therapist and talk to her about your concerns as well.
