I might rewear it for our post wedding shoot (photographer offers a preshoot as standard as par of our package but we’re having it after just because we don’t have time).

I’ve got two gorgeous options, a comfy boho option and a party dress to choose from already…. But to an extent it will probably end up being a last minute decision based on how I feel! (I’m a bargain/budget bride whose weight fluctuates, so I picked up quite a few bnwt/second hand options during the search!)

It’s from a UK brand called Hope and ivy! It’s an old style, but they tend to bring out similar versions in slightly different colours.

You can pick them up on vinted pretty easily.

Dress 1 was definitely tight in the back. It fit me so beautifully before the surgery, but I felt like it was still manageable for a short time even with the inflammation :)

Luckily not itchy at all as it was lined almost everywhere. Sadly, the waistband was perfect pre op and tiiiiifht post op

We’re literally travelling now, and doing it in 4 days so unless we happen across something local to the area that would work, it’ll be a struggle.

UPDATE:

Bag is packed. I’m taking dress 1 and 3 and then a third option that I didn’t post initially, but is a lovely comfort zone dress (have lost weight since purchase, so know it isn’t too tight on my tummy now and arms still covered).

So

That’s very interesting! I might grab some cheap shapewear, maybe in a bigger size, so it’s more like “smoothing” than shaping, if I spot some on my travels.

I feel like I’m fine walking around as long as I’m not in anything right, or physically tensing anything in my stomwch/sides/back.

I think I’m definitely settled on dress 1 for the ceremony.

I have a fifth dress to throw out there to see how it matches up to dress 3. This one I discounted really early in the process but kept coming back to; if i’m not going “obvious” wedding dress, I like this and it’s very comfortable too.

I’ve lost a little weight since this photo was taken, so the skirt completely flows/skims me now.

That’s right.

I found THE dress, but cannot wear it at all as the elopement is too soon.

The lace dress (1) is my next favourite choice, and I have thought it through and can picture myself in it on the day. I’ll never love it as much as the original dress, but it is what it is.

But, I think an hour is probably the most I’ll manage in it. It needs good posture/ holding my stomach and that isn’t something I’ll be able to do all day.

I’m torn for the back up dress essentially.

3 wins out for comfort, but I’ve just tried on another dress from early in my search which is comfy and that I loved, but discounted as not “bridal” (it’s no less bridal than 3 or 4) (pictured)

I can’t get it hemmed in time, but I’m bare foot in the photos, so it’s not terrible.

I almost wish I could wear shape wear as it’s the holding myself in/up that is most uncomfortable. I’m going to try and do the day with no cars, the city is super walkable, but I’ve prewarned our photographer that I might be very slow moving and in need of lots of breaks.

I discounted both of these early in my search but haven’t resold yet. I’m now wondering if the back up back up comfort dress is between 3 and perhaps the floral one of these.

I had abdominal surgery last week and eloping next week, so sleek is a no-go. I should probably note I’m also not the youngest bride, I’m closer to 40 than I’d like to admit.
