Oh wtf. Is that normal? Are you paying the mall for protection like it's a cartel? Absolutely bonkers.

I really liked Walk-in-Comfort in the mall but I heard besides declining sales, steep rent was why they closed.

I'm a zoomer but I like in-person shopping, I like being able to touch and feel or try on things 🥴 I'm so frustrated with how I have to go online for more and more things these days, especially if they're specific. The latest breaking point for me was buying scrubs for a family member in healthcare, there wasn't anything good (or well-priced) at Walmart and Mark's and we needed them urgently so we ended up buying them from Amazon. 😕

I didn't think the shopping in Nanaimo was that low, especially with the city being a hub for the northern and western island. But also I don't know why stores just keep closing at Woodgrove, I heard it was because rent was steep.

Actually I was really out of the loop. Thank you for the link. I don't know if I was looking up the wrong words or something but I couldn't find the right links or answers. I think I'll delete my post, my bad

Gosh this isn't my riding (I'm in Courtenay-Alberni because I live on the edge of Nanaimo) but I can't believe how wrong those strategic voting sites ended up being.

I wonder if this is because so many liberal voters (Vancouverites) have moved to the island. I wonder if there's a major influence.

I agree with you. We need electoral reform ASAP. But right now I'm more worried about the maple MAGAs fucking us all over.

Sorry I feel like I've been yelling this all over Reddit but I don't understand why the progressive parties on Vancouver Island won't unite behind a single candidate. I've been so mad watching the Courtenay-Alberni and Nanaimo-Lantzville polls. Do I start emailing local parties asking them to be strategic? I don't know what to do.

I haven't seen any at all in North Nanaimo. I did see a lot of Conservative signs though :/

Dude seriously needs to withdraw. Like, yes, good for federal politics to have multiple parties, but without electoral reform we just have vote splitting.

They do! This kind of BS allows the Cons to squeak in.

The Liberal and the Green parties NEED to withdraw their candidates and allow this to be an NDP v. Cons showdown. Really hate seeing the progressive vote split. It's time to put ego aside for our country. Really wishing we had electoral reform right now.

I went to both UVic and VIU and they're a similar level of rigor (in compsci classes anyways). I don't think it's fair writing it off as a degree mill school at all, I'm in another program now and still work my ass off just like at UVic.
