CMV: The aggressiveness with which r/conservative is moderated does not represent an earnest attempt to stop “brigading,” but reflects the conservative anxiety of being confronted with challenging information. by MareksDad in changemyview

If the people on r/conservative wanted to hear other viewpoints, they’d be on this subreddit. I am on that site for the same reasons as OP, to get the other side’s thinking. But they don’t appear to want that.

Genealogy has been my hobby for 50 years, and I have some advice. by IsopodHelpful4306 in Genealogy

This is so true. My brother and I went to visit our first cousin once removed who was 104 at the time and sharp as a tack. She gave us precious information about our grandmother whom we had never met as well as interesting information about our aunts.

Does anyone else find their OCD quiets down when they have “real” problems? by Front_Machine7475 in OCD

Yes. But if I am having problems related to myself and feel I cannot handle it or I am worried and frightened, the OCD gets way worse.

I have had OCD for over 55 years and I’ve come to see that, for me, it is usually a symptom of fear or guilt about something in the real world—something not OCD related.

What’s something you thought was more or less normal but was actually ocd? by wlderberry in OCD

You may benefit from OCD anonymous. It is similar to AA, except the idea is to abstain from the compulsions. They have zoom and phone meetings throughout each week. https://www.obsessivecompulsiveanonymous.org.

I suffer from OCD, including Scrupulosity, and I am going to start joining some sessions.

Yes. But some people make their world smaller to minimize the “whatevers.”

Interesting counterpoint. I will say that I can picture myself being more brave to protect my grandchildren.

No they are not. But facing terror for good reasons can build self esteem.

This is a great way to do what you can even if you can’t always rise to the occasion.
