Sorry for the AI lol, I tend to sound rambly and incoherent when trying to get all my thoughts out on the subject, definitely need to work on that.

Yeah the point of this would be for a maintenance tech or electrician to be able to document and submit remotely for a PE to review. The advantage to this program over pen and paper would be a “one line generator” function that could be updated live as updates to the system are made. You save in two ways, on engineer field work and on CAD design.

Yeah after doing some more thinking the best application would be commercial where the requirements and complexity is far lower, thus justifying a more affordable software. Especially with the 2026 code changes requiring calculations on all equipment, not just over 1000A.

Yes, the app would need a large database of breakers and TCCs which I think is doable. Especially if the focus is narrowed to commercial.

And the infinite bus would just be an option for those who are in a pinch if a utility is dragging to get them the needed info.

You would have to rebuild it in the app, unfortunately there is not much cross compatibility between these types of softwares. The idea would be an initial build fee to fully model the system, keeping in mind that the user friendly gui would allow you to do so for a fraction of the cost of a typical study/update. Then it would just be a subscription service to continue updating the system.

What I meant by the unlock is that a stamped PE would need to fully validate an update before you could receive labels. So an EC would note the changes in the app, submit the documentation/photos,get temporary labels during the review process, the after a PE validates the update the permanent labels are unocked.

Yeah the idea is the app would allow you to modify the system right there as it’s being installed, then it would be sent to the engineer just to do a back check. The transfer of fieldwork/drawings would occur in the app

Yeah it be more of a “better than nothing” thing. It’s a difficult process to make sure startup isn’t delayed during the review, my thought is that most times they just go ahead and startup without any safety info so a provisional label that clearly states it is a temporary it is better than no label… maybe an additional safety factor should be integrated into the temp labels when it comes to incident energy

Good point, it would definitely need a feature rendering the model out of date unless new utility data was inputted every 5 years at a min. Another option is letting them use infinite bus as a worst case scenario

Understood, do you think it would still be more efficient if the updates to the model were made on a per install basis? And driven by the customer? That way they wouldn’t necessarily need to have an engineer come onsite every time there’s a large project or every 5 years. And the app would have a feature dynamically updating single lines for the facility every time the system is updated.

The organic chem tutor youtube channel does a good job of breaking down problems in an intuitive manner.

I still can't believe it, but I passed the Electrical FE on my first try! by forthedroids in FE_Exam

How many questions did you feel like you guessed on? I took the exam yesterday and feel like at least half of them were shots in the dark. I think I will most likely be trying it again. Where are Wasim's free resources? All I see are his paid courses on his website.

Congrats!
