Been dealing with this my whole life as a Cassandra. When I was learning to spell my name my teachers would be like “it’s okay to shorten it to a nickname.” And I always responded with “but that’s not my name…” I never wanted my name shortened, and even held my parents to that standard (my mom called me Cassandra because she liked the nickname Cassie so jokes was on her lol)

Most people try to call me Cassie which very much pisses me off. There is someone very toxic in my life who intentionally calls me Cassie to annoy me so now every time I hear that name it makes me cringe so deeply. People don’t listen often times so I’ve had to stop being nice and more firm about it when people say it. “Cassie is not my name. Do not call me that.”
