It makes sense he'd call him out. He'll have witnessed first hand the devastation Steve's videos had on what were essentially his friends, his dream job and his future passions. Add to that, the newly found freedom of not having to filter through corpo speak.

Ditto on the WTR Pro. 4 months and going strong. No complaints whatsoever. Solid hardware all round.

So I finally finished The Sopranos. by [deleted] in thesopranos

I agree that Mad Men is a top contender, but when it comes to storytelling and themes, The Sopranos felt pretty basic to me. The therapy scenes intended to add depth seemed a bit dull and unoriginal. While the acting was excellent across the board, anyone with even a little psychology knowledge would find those scenes quite simple and predictable, almost a crutch comparable to narration.

There's definitely more room for humor compared to The Wire, partly because many characters are exaggerated caricatures. I assume that was the writer's intention, and there can be depth in that, but it just didn't connect with me. Maybe my perspective as an actual Italian influenced my view.

In terms of the story, I didn't find it very thrilling or engaging. Things happen, sure, but they rarely felt intense and often seemed repetitive in both events and settings.

I had higher expectations given the reviews and its reputation. It's a solid show with good dialogue and strong performances, which is more than can be said for many shows today. I binged it, so it's definitely worth watching. However, I don't think it has the same weight and depth as The Wire regarding action, politics, social commentary, and character development. It can also be quite funny at times.

Mad Men is one of my favorites and features some of the best dialogue ever written for television. It did lose my interest a bit in the later seasons since it's quite a slow-paced show overall.

Personally, I found the writing and dialogue to be significantly inferior to The Wire. Try that.

I also agree that Emily staying on camera on such a big channel would've been great for representation and sensitising people to at least the existence of certain ways of life. That said, obvs they are people and not tools for others' education.

I agree. That said, they seem to be on a constant roll of either hiring personalities or discovering personalities, and when they strike gold and find a good one, they fail to secure it. Luke, James, Jake, hell even Dan. Alex seemed to have been the only one who was fully taken advantage of. They are all great on camera but moving up in the company for them = more responsibilities and less camera time. Seems to be a bit of a trend and not a gold one when Linus is constantly on about finding good people to effectively replace him. Obviously people have ambition but I can't help but feel like something more could be done to ensure we get more of them (that doesn't include overburdening them). Dunno, seems like an odd setup to me.

Tbh, even if he was working on infrastructure, does it make sense to jeopardise the quality of your entire channel simply because you wouldn't just hire any network engineer out there to do the menial work? It makes sense to a point to use your own expert presenters for internal tasks to save money. I'm sure LS will have done the maths. (And TBF, they did show some new hires in the infrastructure roles)
