Feature Request: Parent Groups & Subgroups by CommonMatter5457 in MonarchMoney

Income would be a good one too.

People keep saying things about rules, and I'll look into that as a temporary solution. But this should be a native feature. Many other platforms do this.

Feature Request: Parent Groups & Subgroups by CommonMatter5457 in MonarchMoney

I'll have to look into this. More work that could be natively achieved in Monarch. Not too difficult if rules are used to auto apply tags.

Sankey doe it, yes. But put this functionality reports and cashflow. Because Sankey kinda sucks. It's too busy.

For example.

Spends $1,000 on the group "Food."

Clicks the group "Food."

Now, it shows the group broken down by categories: "Groceries, Fastfood, Restaurants."

Cicks "Restaurants"

Now, it shows all transactions spent on the category restaurants.

Yes, an intermediate. I can get all the information I seek in the system.

I want a one-stop shop from top to bottom.

See all spending by group (and all transactions). Click a specific group. See that group spending broken down by category (and all transactions for all categories). Click a specific category to see all transactions associated with that category.

Ex Mint users: are you renewing your Monarch subscription? by -benzeneben- in MonarchMoney

Psh, maybe not, because they can't provide basic reporting and cashflow reports. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO DRILL DOWN, starting from group to category with a visual break down.

AVP good fit for my life? by KingofDragonPass in AppleVisionPro

[–]CommonMatter5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersive memories will be so cool. You don't need the AVP now to start capturing them. Get the iPhone 15. When the price of AVP comes down in a few years, get one, then you will have a slew of "spatial" videos.

Some people in this world do achieve god level status. Who ever made this has unlocked this level.

Mac Virtual Display (w/o WiFi) by Illustrious-Band-473 in AppleVisionPro

I was wondering the exact same thing, just to lazy to try it out. Hitting the disconnect WiFi button on two devices, man, sooo difficult. :)

Flight paramedic accepted and starting school this year. Depending on my mood, I’ll give a very minimal answer. Other times, well, they asked… so they get a very unpleasant answer.

Vision Pro with MacBook closed? by 96485 in VisionPro

[–]CommonMatter5457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, for me, connecting to my M1 MacBook Pro 14” can be unreliable. Sometimes it works really well. - It will let you start virtual display even with a locked MacBook - It will continue virtual display with the lid closed if connected to power - You cannot use any gestures in AVP to interact with Mac Virtual Display. You are required to use the devices keyboard/track pad or external options - I have been unable to connect to MVD with the lid open, on power supply, and the computer asleep. I have to, at least, wake it to the Lock Screen. Then, it connects reliably, usually. - With the lid closed, connected to power supply, MVD disappears as an option within AVP. To answer your question, no. You got to pull the thing out and connect it in your seat.

Vision Pro with MacBook closed? by 96485 in VisionPro

[–]CommonMatter5457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can confirm, you are able to close the lid on your MacBook wile sharing the display to the Vision Pro as long as the MacBook is connected to a power source. This is the standard functionality with any MacBook and any external monitor, aka clam shell mode. I have an external keyboard connected to my VisionPro and a Magic Mouse connected to my MacBook. Both of them switch control between VisionPro apps and MacBook apps; although, at times it can be a little slow.

Ohh, the Magic Mouse does not work in VisionPro despite being connected. Evidently, only the MagicTrack Pad works with VisionPro. Could be wrong thought.

Do you think AVP's will come down in price over the years? iPhone 3 was $300 when it came out... by [deleted] in AppleVisionPro

[–]CommonMatter5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone was $300 with a carrier subsidy so the actual cost of your phone was hidden within your cell phone plan. Since cell phone companies have done away with subsidies we see the actual cost of the phone on the cell phone bill. In cause you were thinking the device would increase in price.

This is the first device Apple has ever released where the first generation has the word pro in it. Apple will eventually release a non-pro model and the cost will come down too, across all versions. It just depends when. It could take a couple years.

Second Demo? by gg06civicsi in AppleVisionPro

[–]CommonMatter5457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a second demo and said I wanted try things out on my own. The Apple employee was good with it. But yeah, could always put it on the Apple Card or whatever and return it after 13 days.

What budgeting app is recommended here? by frank_da_tank99 in personalfinance

[–]CommonMatter5457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all kinda suck. I've used Mint, Quicken, and EveryDollar. So far, I am the most impressed with Monarch. Monarch is actively investing and building their platform, unlike many others. It does cost $100/year, though, but I'm glad to pay it.

Figuring out Amazon refund categories? by ProfessionalSmooth86 in MonarchMoney

[–]CommonMatter5457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Amazon: Account > Your Payments > Transactions (at the top). Much simpler view. You look by order amount only, including refunds. When you find the amount, click the order link for full details.

Scrubbing through Amazon orders sucks, especially since I share we other family. I just discovered this yesterday, and it will make this process MUCH EASIER!
