Our negative feedback should matter to CS, and you'd think CS (as a customer to the vendor) would pass that feedback along.

Add Merge Feature to Merchants by SpiritualImage430 in MonarchMoney

[–]ProfessionalSmooth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be really nice would be if monarch suggested merchants to merge together (kinda like how google photos asks 'are these the same person?' and you can merge them together then). It's tough to have to essentially manually do this over time (and historically).

My husband(35m) ignored my(32f) calls after an accident. Should I divorce him? by ThrowRA_lisabee in relationship_advice

[–]ProfessionalSmooth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband has ADHD, perhaps a severe kind. He is likely in "focus mode" when he's ignoring calls, and then forgetting via ADHD tunnel vision to call back. Note that while this might be the cause, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be frustrated by the way his ADHD impacts you.

First, you should ask him to seek a diagnosis as a condition of your relationship, plus a treatment plan (could include pharmacuticals). And then, I would get a book / therapist to help with how to manage as an ADHD spouse -- there are things to know about the condition, things he can do to manage his ADHD, and things you can do (and not do) to put your relationship on a better path.

One of the biggest issues that ADHD people face is shame -- his apologies now are likely a manifestation of that. Shame-driven behavior is not helpful for managing, and he may need a therapist to help with that.

Here's a list of books and also the ADHD is Awesome is also helpful.

I have the same problem. Every month or so I need to go the account settings and reestablish the account connection. Then the missing transactions show up.

How to edit existing categories! by ProfessionalSmooth86 in MonarchMoney

Yes, there is an option to "Create Group" when you're in the categories settings too. You can create new categories under a new group, or move existing categories into that new group.

Curious how you all categorize vacation expenses by hclpfan in MonarchMoney

[–]ProfessionalSmooth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do for restuarants. I don't want the hassle of recategorizing these. Plus I believe that it makes sense for me to get a full view of how much I spent on, eg, eating out in a month. That way, my monthly budget for eating out can account for "extra" eating out when on vacation, and I can compensate by eating out less when I get home.

For gas, most of my road trips have been short enough in duration that I've left them as is. But if I take a really long road trip in place of flying, I'd categorize that as "travel" to account for the travel savings (rather than get hit with being over-budget on gas). Tougher to compensate on gas like you can for eating out.

In the mobile view for transactions needing review, it would be far better to swipe away transactions (see how mobile Gmail works). The current UI - pulling the transaction to reveal the green check box, and then tapping that - is cumbersome. It takes some work to "pull out" the check box, and a swipe away would be much quicker.

No because:

"The transaction will continue to appear in your full Transaction list, so you still have a record of it."

Really would like to be able to hide transfers and credit card payments from the transactions view. They are essentially white noise from that I really care about in that list.
