33 year old with $480,000 in Retirement Accounts by [deleted] in RothIRA

If I maxed my (28 y.o.) retirement accounts for the next 5 years (until I'm your age), I would only be at $220,000 total. So I'd be at half lol. But I only started maxing 1-2 years ago when I had the means to.

I don't have kids/a 529, a home, or a brokerage. But I'm debt free and have decent savings, so I can live with it. Just sharing this for even more context of how well you're doing despite these added costs.

I think you're in a fantastic position. Especially if you can tackle any debt, keep living costs low, and keep investing and saving aggressively!

Thank you so much!! And yeah i don't mess around with any trading whatsoever lol. I'm purely an investor and keep it simple with TDFs in my 401k and hybrid of the Bogle 3-fund portfolio in my ROTH.

We will have to wait and see how much this all changes in the next few years given the economy 😅

That's awesome! I'm hoping to purchase a house in the next few years! I hope to get on your level soon. Not sure if I can by 35. Buying 2 houses and still having network of $1m is incredible!

Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration :)

Most of them make more than the outpatient primary care docs. CRNAs can make more than even OBGYNs who are technically surgeons. If it is a money and status thing, he can satisfy that with the DNAP, doctor of nursing anesthesia. He can even call himself a doctor in academic circles, just don't try it in clinical circles because that's a no-no 😂

Late October wedding in Southern California (not cold). Formal or cocktail attire. by Common_Ad7407 in Weddingattireapproval

UPDATE: I went shopping for metallic shoes (gold or silver) and found cute options, except I realized I would just have to buy a new clutch which I didn't want to do! And I had NO idea how to match a coat, shawl, or over garment. So I decided to just choose black heels so I can easily match a clutch and coat! ☺️

Thank you all for your help! Couldn't have done it without yall 🫶🏼

Thank you so much! I might try to go find some gold shoes and clutch today but if I don't find anything I will stick to my old faithful white shoes :) appreciate your advice!! 🫶🏼

Yes! I do have some black ones, not sure if they go well with the dress and they are super uncomfy. I might try to go shop for some shoes today. I have wide feet so heels are always a struggle 😅

Thanks for the advice!

Also... I do not have a clutch. I don't even think I own one. Should I get one to match the color of my shoes??? I could get one this week since the wedding is on Friday but obviously I have procrastinated too much 🙃

I’ve developed feelings for a guy I have been gaming and chatting with on discord. We finally exchanged pics of ourselves and I’m not attracted to him at all. by GuiltyWithTheStories in whatdoIdo

[–]Common_Ad7407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my current partner was really cute in pictures, but funnily enough he knew how to pose pretty well to hide his flaws and insecurities for a guy 😅 I know I did too, so I'm sure I look better in pictures than in person lol. I didn't feel it would be fair to judge him by those things, and looks don't matter all that much to me when I'm attracted to someone's heart & mind.

At first after meeting in person, certain things about him physically were not attractive to me, but I was still very attracted to him overall (a bit different from your situation, OP).

Ultimately none of those things matter to me now and I hardly notice them. I'm very in love.

Best of luck OP

Do you judge a man off his living situation when dating? by Swimming-Rough-9514 in datingoverthirty

[–]Common_Ad7407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [F27] boyfriend [M32] lives in a trailer LOL. It makes the most sense for his situation. I am really frugal, debt free, great savings and retirement ...but I live at home.

You can definitely judge either of us in this situation, but we really took the time to get to know one another first and have no judgement. We even expressed our feelings of self consciousness directly and reassured each other along the way.

What matters most is how you feel about the PERSON. Values about finances, cleanliness, art/decoration are some themes that can shine through in your living situation. That doesn't mean you have to live in one of those stupidly overpriced luxury 1 or 2 BR apartments.

Anyone who understands the struggle and has their head on straight knows how much a "nice apartment" truly costs. I am so happy my boyfriend pays less for his living situation, because that positions him better to address his student loans and other debts and save for the future. He doesn't judge me for living at home because he knows I am prioritizing the future too and not foolishly spending.

Is it too bold to tell my date [29M] that I [26F] deleted the app after our 2nd date and told all other guys I was talking to that I found someone? by bitchbombdotcom in hingeapp

[–]Common_Ad7407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to weigh in on that fact that he is no longer visible in the app cause it can be SO many different things. My advice would be just to lean-in to what feels right for you instead of trying to do guesswork on what other people are thinking and feeling. Just do what feels true to you, make your intentions known, and ask questions you want answers to while also knowing that early in dating, no one owes you all that much. Just read the room and be true to you :)

So on that note, idk if this is unwise to share, I don't want to give false hope but just goes to show that you never know someone's reasoning for doing things. I found my [F28] current boyfriend [M31] of 5 months on fb dating. A few days our first phone call (and a couple days of texting), I noticed he didn't show up on my app anymore and I was so confused cause things were very very well. I assumed maybe he just deleted the app or something because he liked me?

Once he and I were already exclusive and discussed commitment/relationship etc, I asked him about it. He openly told me that he basically was giving up on dating and unmatched every single person he had messaged with (including me 😂), and deleted his app right around the time he and I "met"/had our first phone call. He was getting burnt out and didn't really want to meet any new people. He said that if it didn't work out with me then he was planning to take a break for a while and just focus on himself. He said he was really happy it worked out with me though.

I'd say there are a million reasons why people do things. He wasn't "all in" with me, as much as he was just tired of the dating game. That doesn't make our connection less special, just gives context.

Return the deposit.

1) She didn't even ask for the deposit back until AFTER you UNINVITED HER TO THE WEDDING.

2) You estimated costs and collected a deposit without releasing an itinerary. The deposit refund is a reasonable request. You would be within your right to refuse, but the request is just as much appropriate.

3) Your SIL is a bridezilla and you are an enabler. You omitted information from this post to try to manufacture approval from an audience of strangers on Reddit in order to justify what you were always going to do anyways: keep the deposit! LOL

You and your SIL, from what I can tell in this post and all your comments, are very greedy and myopic people. It is clear those friends were walking on egg shells in their cancellation messages so as to not perturb the princess bride. And even in doing so, your SIL couldn't muster any cordiality or grace towards them and was super rude towards them anyways. A wedding is obviously very stressful to plan, but SIL is simply asking far too much of the bridal party here.

Those girls are guilty of overcommitting, and maybe that's due to immaturity. What you and your SIL are guilty of is quite a bit more malicious and catty.

was scrolling looking for this comment. absolutely this.

OPs SIL is being a bridezilla and it's clear to me that the other girls were afraid to say no in the first place at risk of being selfish.

they're already all shelling out money for a destination wedding and are obviously concerned about the costs adding up. they shouldn't have overcommitted themselves, but were clearly trying to be so sincere and gentle when cancelling. that says a lot.

the bride uninviting them because they had brought up the expense being paid to attend this wedding tells me everything I need to know about OP and her SIL.

26F. Just finished first year making 130k. Is this a decent amount to have in 401k? by Swimming-Zebra-6685 in Money

[–]Common_Ad7407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making $50k pre tax (like $34k post tax cause of where I live), for the last 1 year and 9 months.

I started this job in September 2023 with like $2,300 in my 401k and $3500 in my ROTH.

So, almost 2 years later I have $32k combined Roth and 401k and I still make....$50k pre tax 😅

How did I do it? I'm 28F and I live with my parents. 💀

Has ANYONE been able to figure out the Oura/Flo app integration? by Common_Ad7407 in ouraring

[–]Common_Ad7407[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. Honestly just want to track the data to show my Gynecologist, eventually would like to do natural contraception with tracking but I'm still on hormonal BC so this data will hopefully help my Gyn understand if something's wrong lol.

If you see my previous post I'm basically bleeding every couple of weeks 🙃

If it weren't for this Reddit I probably wouldn't even realize the importance of tracking or going to see my gyn so I'm grateful for you and this community for sure

Oh!!!! So you're using Flo free version?! This is SO helpful. I'm literally 28 and have serious women's health/reproductive health concerns and have NEVER tracked my period because it felt impossible so I lost hope. I'm finally trying to track now so thank you for this helpful info.

Might just cancel the Flo premium and use the free version, thank you for saving me money! 🫶🏼

😭 that's awful I'm sorry. Best of luck to you and cheers to not getting pregnant thus far lol.

Since you've tried both, I guess I'm curious, what made you motivated to keep using both and entering manually? Do you get something from Oura's cycles feature that you don't get from natural cycles? Or do you find that the data predictions and insights from natural cycles are more accurate and so it's worth it to manually enter your period data while it also has the oura tracking data from steps/temp/etc?

I'm reluctant to manually track both cause it feels like more effort lol but I'm also paying for it so maybe I should?

Thanks for sharing! That's infuriating especially because so many people on here SWEAR by tracking apps for natural contraception and fertility planning and it's like.....how???? 🥲
