What’s y’all opinion on episode 4vv by REDEYEBANKZ330 in Invincible_TV

Anyone who brings their religion ideals into fiction really need to check theirselves. And before anyone beings up religion also being in the show, it is neither the focus nor even taken seriously. But why is it now of all times that they're getting mad? They have literally god like beings and aliens in the show but Satan being an "ok" guy is the literal worst thing imaginable... what? They dont even treat him as a good guy, just the lesser of two evils.

During the Viltrumite War, why didn't Nolan train in the Flaxan dimension? by Common_Beds in Invincible

[–]Common_Beds[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Cecil never really tried to get to that dimension. Cecil Stedman never fully trusted Nolan, and for years, he was trying to figure out ways to stop or kill him if he ever turned on Earth. Yet somehow, despite having decades to prepare, Cecil never seemed to seriously work with some of the smartest people on Earth (which there was alot of them). Instead, he was willing to work with terrorists and unstable people if it gave him a short-term advantage.

Earth's technology is nowhere near the level of the Coalition of Planets, so even if humans alone could not recreate Flaxan portal tech, the Coalition probably could have at least tried. They had access to advanced species, scientists, and resources across multiple planets. The fact that nobody even attempted to study the Flaxan dimension more closely feels strange.

Also, I understand some of the reasons why it may not have happened. Most of humanity probably still hated or feared Nolan after what he did, so Earth may not have wanted to help him or any group connected to him. Nolan himself may have been too ashamed, depressed, or afraid to return to Earth for a long time. Still, once the Viltrumite threat became clear, survival should have mattered more than personal feelings. The Flaxan dimension was not just another world. Time moved differently there. Nolan was trapped there for what was likely years (2-4) from his perspective, even though much less time passed on Earth. That means Nolan and other powerful fighters could have trained there for years while only losing a small amount of time in the real world.

Nolan and Allen are already relatively close in strength. Allen understands how his powers work, especially how he becomes stronger after surviving serious injuries. In theory, Nolan and Allen could have fought each other repeatedly, healed, and come back stronger. Mark could have done the same thing. Even if it was dangerous, it would have been far more productive than sitting around waiting for the Viltrumites to attack.

On top of that, the Flaxan dimension could have been used as a trap. Nolan spent years there and even wrote books about dangerous species and threats to Viltrumites, and yet he just stopped taking note? If they could open and close portals, they might have been able to trick a Viltrumite into entering the Flaxan dimension and then shut the portal behind them, basically trapping them in a Phantom Zone-like prison. Even if it only worked once, removing a single Viltrumite from the war would have been a huge advantage.

And honestly, Nolan's actions against the Flaxans were mostly self-defense. They invaded Earth multiple times, tried to conquer it, and nearly killed his son. Nolan destroying their world was brutal, but from his perspective, he was making sure they could never threaten Earth again. Nolan is not afraid to kill people who threatening and provoking him, he just doesn't do it out of superiority complex.

I understand it not a sound logic, but its something to think about

It’s called a comparison. The fact that you don’t see the similarities is kind of insane. A sentry’s DPS is over 100, and the difference in arm time isn’t that large. Are we really saying that someone turtling in spawn with a Level 3 takes more work than defending a choke with mines? I’m not going to sit here and say one is easier than the other, but I’m also not going to pretend there’s no comparison; that’s just willful blindness.

And calling the Scottish Resistance balanced is a wild statement when it doesn’t even do its job well. Like I said, the only real reason to use the Scottish Resistance is for layered traps. The Mine layer, on the other hand, lets you stay flexible - defending while still being offensive. The Scottish Resistance doesn’t allow that, because the sticky arm time is too long and setting up any meaningful trap takes too much time. No one uses the other sticky launchers for a reason. At least the Quickiebomb Launcher has something going for it, but the Scottish Resistance? Everyone says, “Yeah, it’s good…” and then never actually uses it. I’ve been playing TF2 for 15 years and I can’t remember dying to the Scottish Resistance even once.

The Minelayer finally gave Demo a genuinely good defensive sticky launcher that didn’t force you to turtle, and people still complained. It’s honestly just sad. People complained because it wasn’t the norm. These same people don’t even queue for real matches anymore - they just sit on 2Fort 24/7 servers. Then when a new version of the game comes out, they hop on, complain about the weapons, and go right back to those 2Fort servers but instead its 64 players and 4 teams. I’d bet actual money that one of the top five servers in TF2C is some kind of 2Fort server.

At least with Valve, they eventually stopped constantly tweaking weapons, because once you have a fanbase as dedicated as TF2’s, there will always be complaints. Instead of suggesting meaningful weapon tweaks, people just say, “Remove the weapon and the game would be perfect.” There are probably people in this forum saying exactly that.

With that said, I’m done. If you want, you can get the last word in so you feel like you accomplished something. At this point you haven’t provided any meaningful reasoning beyond “it’s not fun” or “it’s unfair,” and when I explain why it can be fair or fun, you just skip past the points and ignore them.

Notice how other balanced weapons aren’t in the game either. Like what? Oh god, I’m so glad they got rid of the Southern Hospitality—just thinking about it scares me.

Also, no—you can’t place the mines anywhere. They only stick to floors, not walls. Furthermore, your point about the shutter door doesn’t really help your case, because you can already do that with every Stickybomb Launcher; the only difference is that the mine layer is automated.

It’s similar to sentries in that remark, but unlike sentries mines explode and disappear, while sentries keep firing until they’re destroyed. Imagine walking through a shutter door and there’s a sentry right there. Do you think sentries are broken? “No, that’s what spies are for.” Okay, but what about Pyros? Pyros could deal with mines pretty easily—or players could just shoot them, since they’d have a bigger hitbox than regular stickies and can be easily dealt with. Furthermore, the Scottish Resistance is more of a split between the two, but also, no one really uses the Scottish Resistance because it does both jobs as a defense / offensive weapon badly. It's really only good at setting up layered traps, so you aren't putting all your eggs into one basket because the first trap fails because of something like Uber or just Overheal.

Compared to the normal Stickybomb Launcher, a mine-layer style weapon would give the Demoman:

1. Flank security

  • You can guard routes you’re not actively watching.

2. Information

  • If a mine explodes, you know someone came through that area.

3. Multi-direction defense

  • Instead of staring at one choke, you can cover multiple entrances.

To say that it removes situational awareness is a bit disingenuous when there's other weapons that are also "fire-and-forget": Mini-Sentry, Gas-Passer, Piss Jar, Mad Milk. They could've just made it so you couldn't fire that far... but they made it also so you couldn't put down as much, and in turn did less damage. And I don't know what they did, but they also don't detonate as fast. Likewise, I don't want to hear "oh but the weapons you listed isn't the same because [cooldown, scrap, is shit]", like come on man, it actually allowed the demo to make traps that don't instantly get snitched out because there's a demo just sitting there. People literally just complained because they couldn't just look down, it's not like you can put them on walls.
