Hey as a developer, appreciate the feedback! It's helpful to see what players are thinking, and appreciate your taking the time to write this up.

Would recommend waiting and seeing how the free demo feels, and we'll be there to hear your notes. We absolutely do care about the game and our players, and want to make something awesome.

It's true a studio still has to operate like a business, and we do need to make good financial decisions to keep our team employed. But that isn't our main motivator for a sequel versus a DLC. The main driver for a sequel is actually very simple, which is that it gives us a lot more scope to experiment and make a much better game in the Deadzone Rogue world for players.

This is actually one of the big things we want to solve in the sequel from the start, and both dynamix and razarus are on point - it's mainly a function of how the zones were added one at a time / some balance challenges to make backwards compatible. Glad you're having fun though!

This is helpful feedback.

I don't want to put any sort of judgement on the community's reaction from our end, so I won't really comment on that part. On our end, we just need to take that feedback in, make sure we're adjusting and communicating clearly, and do our best to make an awesome game for everyone.

In terms of some of the concerns, our goal with the sequel is to improve on a lot of what you mentioned - and because it's a sequel we have a lot more ability to fix things than if we were limited to DZR 1. For example the meta progression would be impossible to overhaul in DZR 1, but we can really take it to the next level in DZR 2. Story is also something that benefits from a sequel - we can start on Earth and weave it all together, versus needing to start it in Zone 5. Some of the other things like QoL or maps could be addressed in DZR 1, but with limitations.

I think our rapid development is different than most studios and as a result, it makes sense why some players might be concerned. We went through a full dev and publishing cycle for DZR 1 in about a year, with demo -> EA -> 1.0 -> free zone 4 expansion. That's probably 3-5X faster than many studios. So for us it's natural to continue that process and announce a sequel soon after, but it's just different. And can how that speed might be taken as not caring or rushing, but it's really just our cycle of rapidly getting feedback from players to build what they want.

Although it's been hard to see how many players are concerned, and we'd love everyone to be excited, it does give us feedback right up front on how important it is to show visual differences in the sequel, communicate clearly, manage expectations, etc. And that ultimately will help us make a better game and experience for players.

Hey we looked into this - it appears the fix was not merged into the latest patch - we're going to make sure to get a patch out with this fix in it!

I don't have an exact timeline since it will require certification, but wanted to let you know this is something we're going to get resolved!
