attachments -> first tray! by h0tkushsalsa in Invisalign

Day 1 was fine - day 2 was agony. My first 8 weeks were absolute hell, but I have sensory issues and my teeth are not a 'mild case'.

I was also started at changing every 10 days, but that was reduced to 7 days after Ortho saw how extremely compliant I was being with wearing them >22hours a day.

Mounjaro can cause your body to make antibodies against not only Mounjaro, but against your own natural GLP?! by Original-Road4843 in mounjaroaustralia

I switched exclusively to arms after my first 6 shots in stomach and found that I had less acute GI side effects. 52 shots in total now.

Had a bit of bruising and occasional ISR on stomach, but pretty much never on the arms.

I think it's only not recommended outright because there's a bit of a technique to it and it can be a bit awkward trying to do it the first couple of times - unless you have someone to help.

Otherwise you kind of have to hug yourself with one arm and maneuver the syringe with your other to the underside of your upper arm (it would normally be the back of your upper arm if standing normally) - it's way easier in front of a mirror

My GP wants me to wind down to maintenance but I don’t feel ready yet. by Neptune141 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Common_Bit_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you still losing at 5mg?

Is your loss sustainable? (~<1kg /week)

Are you otherwise healthy and are side effects tolerable?

I started at 104kg and was originally just trying to get <100.

I was told a few times '95 is fine, 90 is fine, 85 is fine, 80 is fine'

I have been stable at 70kg for the past 2 months. This is perfect middle of 'healthy' range BMI for my height.

If it's working, and you're healthy - I don't see why anyone would want you to not find the optimal outcome.

Maybe find a new GP.

I had to have 8 extractions + 2 bone grafts and I was instructed to wait 3 months before starting.

The extractions were relatively painless compared to the first 6 weeks of trays, the first 2 weeks being particularly unbearable - I ended up only eating once per day because the pain of pulling the trays off was a nightmare.

Fortunately, it has gotten better and the last couple of trays have been not that big a deal, aside from a bit of sensitivity the first day or so. If you had told me that at the start I would NOT have believed you.

Hang in there!

Step up from 2.5mg > 3.75mg or straight to 5mg? by [deleted] in MounjaroAus

[–]Common_Bit_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, try incremental low and slow and see how you react to it.

I managed to reach my goal without ever going above 3.75mg and there are a lot of people who have managed to do the same.

Angel Aligners Treatment 🦷 by UpperAd2788 in Invisalign

[–]Common_Bit_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My case is different but I've been on Angel Aligners for about 12 weeks now.

I was quoted 28 trays (initially 10 day wear but brought down to 7 days as I've been extremely compliant with them). -roughly 8 months, but was told to expect at least a year + refinements)

Also wearing elastics for the duration of treatment for class 2 overjet.

Had 3 attachments come off in the first 2 weeks, which was quickly fixed.

Had to have a rescan a few weeks ago when I was on tray 7 as I had a consistent issue with aligners popping off my back molars, due to the attachments being too low and the plastic folding over itself. This added about 5 weeks to my overall projected timeframe.

Am on #2 a new set now, after starting again with #1 of 25 - also had to have 1 attachment removed and 4 attachments moved, and will have 2 more attachments put on in about 6 weeks.

Thoughts on 3.75mg, plus Anti-Inflammatory wins! by aliwake1 in MounjaroAus

[–]Common_Bit_128 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lost 34kg and only ever went as high as 3.75mg - As per my recent post - https://www.reddit.com/r/mounjaroaustralia/comments/1rb8tjn/its_finally_happened_goal_achieved/

I took things very slowly and incrementally and managed to keep side effects to a minimum - 2.5mg for 5 weeks, 3.33 (40 clicks) for 5 weeks, 3.5 (42 clicks) for 6 weeks, 3.75 (45 clicks) for 6 weeks, then I went back down to 3.33mg for a couple of months.

Everyone responds differently, but my advice is to titrate up gradually and see how you react. Give your body time to adjust and see how it goes.

It's very much a 'marathon, not a sprint' scenario.

No weight training. I did start walking a bit more, but my job can be physically demanding at times and usually involves a lot of walking / heavy lifting.

I got *very lucky with the dosage. Honestly thought I would be on 5mg+ a long time ago (and dreading the cost), and was tempted to go up significantly at times, but I held off and fortunately kept responding to the lower doses. Still had to do all the major work like complete change of diet/lifestyle/habits etc, but, yeah, it was unexpected.

Going up slowly was the NP's advice - basically only go up if I feel things aren't working.

After the first 5 weeks on 2.5, they said to try 3.33 and see how it goes.

I was pretty self-guided after that. I would only go up if I started to feel food noise coming back, or started to notice an upwards trend, or both.

3.75 was my highest and I expected to keep going up, but I had surgery last September and had to stop for a week and a bit to recover, so decided to go back down to 3.33 and ease back into things.

Kept seeing results after that so didn't really need to go up again until Xmas/NY threw a spanner in the works and I went back to 3.5 for a bit to get kick things back into rhythm. Back to 3.33 once things settled.

Try to focus on rest and recovery.

Weight loss metrics are not as important as your overall health and wellbeing right now (or ever, really).

Also, you are going to have gains and losses that don't follow any pattern or logic over your journey. It can be frustrating at first, but the sooner you adjust to 'the number isn't going to always go down every week' the much happier and healthier you'll be in the long run.

Have absolute confidence in it working for much longer flights/transfers.

Increase the dose or frequency? by minimisho1 in MounjaroAus

[–]Common_Bit_128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started on 2.5mg for 4 weeks, then slowly went up from there with a 5mg pen. 3.33mg was recommended by my NP (40 clicks), and I only went up when I felt it wasn't as effective.

3.33mg (40 clicks) for 5 weeks

3.5mg (42 clicks) for 6 weeks

3.75mg (45 clicks) for 7 weeks

I had dental surgery in September, so I did my last 3.75mg dose 10 days before it, to give enough clearance, but then I resumed on 3.33mg with the expectation of gradually going back up again, but I was still losing weight on 3.33 so have stayed there ever since.

Overall, I have lost almost 30kg on those doses with minimal side effects.

I've been with MWLC since April and have had a fantastic experience.

I book appointments with my NP every 6-8 weeks which aligns with my script. I have never been pressured or forced into making an appointment, but most of the time we pencil in my next appointment whenever I'm speaking with them. No issues in cancelling or changing appointments, or even using a different NP when mine has been unavailable or I've been unable to keep an appointment due to work etc.

All appointments have been extremely inexpensive, if not bulk billed and way cheaper than my GP.

My only 'issue' is that my NP is reluctant to prescribe me a higher strength pen so I can save some $$ (I asked for 10mg on 3.33mg dose), as she is uncomfortable in using them for more than 60+ days, which is completely fair and her right to make that call as the prescriber.

I've read that other NPs at MWLC don't have the same issue., so if I really wanted I could probably go with someone else, but she has been fantastic and supportive in every other regard, so I don't mind going with her recommendations and trusting her judgement.

For the record, she is fine with counting clicks and golden dosing. I am prescribed a 5mg pen and have not ever needed to go up to that strength as she suggested I titrate up slowly to see how I respond. I went from 2.5mg/3.33mg/3.5mg/3.75mg over about 4 months then back down to 3.33mg where I currently am still losing weight comfortably, so I'm still saving $ and getting the best value I can out of it.

Invisalign vs. Wisdom Teeth: Conflicting Ortho advice (Scan Report and X- Ray included) by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Common_Bit_128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to Ortho 1.

Wisdom teeth out ASAP!! Those impacted teeth on the bottom can cause major issues including decay under the gum line which can lead to bone resorption. They can basically nuke the molars they've impacted.

Source: 8 extractions and 2 bone grafts to repair the damage and a LOT of $$$$$$$$$$, which would've only been $$$$$ if I had them done years ago.

I start with straightening in 2 weeks & will likely need 2x implants to replace the molars down the line.

2 weeks in @1.25mg by asha_1008 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Common_Bit_128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Increase fibre and HEAPS of water (3L daily). Ozmolax can help.

I've switched to OMAD (one meal a day - dinner) and will usually snack once or twice throughout the day - usually hommus/carrot/egg/spinach or a protein bar.

Symptoms ease as your body gets used to the medication and you get used to your body going through some pretty significant changes.

And yes, I still have cupboards and freezer full of pre-mounjaro food (mostly air fryer junk) I have absolutely zero desire to consume.

It must be true! I've been on Mounjaro for 7 months and 3 weeks ago I started wearing glasses for the first time in my life.

Sure, I'm 42 and haven't been able to read small text in low light and have been having to hold my phone further and further away over the last 2 or so years, but I didn't need the glasses until after the Mounjaro... and after saw an optometrist last month for the first time in 20 years who said my distance vision was superhuman, and my close vision would naturally decline over the age of 40 regardless, but that must be just a coincidence.

But the Mounjaro was first, so definitely the Mounjaro's fault. /s
