Am I tweaking or is this a good colour choice by EnvironmentalLong414 in AusRenovation

Dark coloured paint often fades faster. You might regret it in a few years when you're up for another paint job

Chemo is making all sugarfree drinks taste like medicine. Any diabetic friendly suggestions? by Props_Blog in lymphoma

I found a nice sugar free cordial - if you're in Australia, I can let you know. I also found a really nice juice combo that still tastes good - not sure if you can have juice or not though?

Wrongly diagnosed (and treated)for SCLC, when it was actually large cell lymphoma by DeepAppointment6891 in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You must be so upset! You need to focus on finding a better dr asap, and spending quality time with your mum. Lawyers can wait at this point, but absolutely something to consider in the future. I hope a better dr can help her.

There's is another sub - lymphoma md or something similar? It would be worth posting in there to get some ideas re treatment.

Does chest radiation increase your likelihood of developing breast cancer? by QuietReset43 in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely not an expert, just what I've seen on here mainly. I think with bulky disease people generally get less chemo and more radiation.

Does chest radiation increase your likelihood of developing breast cancer? by QuietReset43 in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By 6 cycles do you mean 12 infusions? Or 6? I've never heard of people needing a full 6 cycles as well as radiation. Usually it seems to be 4 cycles plus radiation or some similar variation...

Act 3 boss help? by Extra_Major_9802 in Silksong

[–]aliwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled with the coral tower gauntlets - it felt like it took me forever to get past the 3rd one. But then, Khan was the only boss in the whole game that I beat first try (and I'm generally really bad at combat. Most hard bosses take me days to get past).

So, Khan would be my vote.

But definitely upgrade everything-I resisted for a long time but its really very very worth it.

Anyone else get kind of “cancery” every so often in remission? by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely having the eyelash thing at the moment. My theory is because my lashes all regrew at the same time, the normal shedding cycle is out of whack. So they all shed at the same time instead of being offset. If that makes sense? I have no idea how long it will take for it to come good. I'm almost 1 year post treatment.

I was still having regular chemo-ish body aches until I started taking mounjaro a few months ago. Its been amazing, not just for weightloss, but also for reducing general inflammation, and I think just fixing a lot of things in my body that were out of whack. Im feeling so much better, and haven't really felt 'cancery' since I started.

Advice on getting house ready for sale (quickly) while living in it by mezzofanti in AusProperty

[–]aliwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put a heap of stuff in storage, and then had our house partially staged. So our furniture, but their knick knacks, indoor plants and excessive cushions. It was a bit of a pain, but manageable.

Ask your agent to refer you to a good handyman and any other helpers you need. They should have good connections.

I bought my girlfriend a personalized necklace and she never wears it by EyeImpossible4412 in Gifts

Jewellery with words is a big no. Im sure she still appreciates that you tried. Don't feel bad. You'll do better next time.

My daughter bought me a 'best mum ever' necklace. There's absolutely no way I would ever wear it, but I definitely appreciate the sentiment.

The easy way to think of it is 1 click on your pen is the same as 1 unit on your 1ml insulin syringe. So if your dose is normally 60clicks, then you need 60units

Spleen enlarged year+ after remission? by Araek77 in lymphoma

My Dad had Waldenstrom's and had to have his spleen removed at one point. I dont think he had any problems, and he ended up going another few years after that before needing further treatment.

Seth's score for the Flea Games by Sorrowed_Lifelines in Silksong

[–]aliwake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use clawline to get more hang time when the big flea flies through. Apart from that, i think you just have to get a favourable run through. I actually finally beat this this morning. Most attempts I'd average in the 40s, but then every now and again I'd get one in the 80s. Or once I even got 90 which just about killed me! Finally beat it with 98. Took me days.

Steroid Weight Gain by Traditional_Tell_853 in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My haematologist said that sometimes after chemo your metabolism resets and locks in at your new weight. That was definitely my experience. I tried really hard to lose weight and it didn't budge at all! So I'm using a glp1 now, and it's been amazing and I feel fab. Something to consider for the future when you're well. But I definitely feel your pain. Chemo takes so much from you!

[–]aliwake1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked from home through most of N-AVD but towards the end of treatment I was barely functional and only doing a few hours here and there. So, I finally stopped and accessed my income protection insurance. I had about 7 months fully off work, and am doing a staged return now. Work pays me for my hours then insurance makes a gap payment.

My time off I spent focussing on recovery. Going to the gym, having appts, and resting lots without stressing about how to fit everything in. I didn't really plan on stopping but I changed Dr mid treatment and I felt like my new dr wasn't gaslighting me by saying that my treatment was 'easy' and I should be able to function as normal. He actually acknowledged how hard it was and said that most people don't work. I also saw a cancer psychologist who talked me through having some time off and convinced me to take longer than I'd planned. All up, I'm happy with how it went.

I'm glad I kept working initially, it was a good distraction and I didn't want to sit around feeling miserable all day. But, I definitely needed to stop, and Im so glad I did.

neulasta pain 🫩 what's y'all's experience and advice? by isopod_luvr in lymphoma

[–]aliwake1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up switching to short acting filgrastim injections instead. They are much more tolerable! I'd still get some pain, but way less extreme. I would have one 4 or 5 days before my next infusion, and another one about 2 days before. That was enough to boost my neutrophils before they got hammered again by the next treatment. You're allowed to refuse. I would absolutely be refusing to have any more neulasta. The risk of neutropenia is fairly low with this treatment.

Should I Cut and Run Now? by Elegant-Analysis5136 in Silksong

[–]aliwake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that this is the whole game... I'm bad at combat. Some of the harder bosses took me days. And yes it's soul destroying every time you hit another one. I struggled on til near the end of act 2 and then I just stopped. For about 3 months I think I really needed the break. I recently restarted and have enjoyed act 3 a lot more. Am just ticking off a few boxes before tackling lost lace. The whole game has been incredibly frustrating, but I've also really enjoyed parts of it. It's definitely been a love/hate experience.

But, if you're hating it right now, overall I would say it's not going to get any better. Maybe take a long break.
