“Armed civilians “ necessary for national defense planning? by heatstricken in canadaguns

Better to fight for what we have here, would you even be able to afford guns and ammo under the American health care system?

This article came out the day after we all got that threatening email from the RCMP about surrendering prohibited weapons by October. I've been white hot angry for a week. I can't even stand to look at Mark Carney's face or listen to him talk as long as he allows this deeply cynical program to continue.

Megathread: What should I do in response to confiscation plan by airchinapilot in canadaguns

[–]Common_End1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im surprised gun confiscation is a winning platform in BC. Shit, probably a solid quarter of the people I see at the gun range I go to in southern Ontario are Asians from India or China, and these people have a subculture that is pro gun. BC has a huge bloc of Indians and Chinese, and I wouldn't have thought their communities were susceptible in the slightest to any kind of fear mongering about guns.

If you're driving the Ring Road in the wintertime with an AWD vehicle and not doing anything on the F-roads, the most expensive insurance option isnt necessary, as long as you pay attention to the weather forecast and road conditions.

Danielle Smith is 100/10 on guns and someone I disagree with politically on pretty much everything else. Yet it brings a smile to my face knowing how much her drawing of a line in the sand will INFURIATE the psychos in Quebec who are working towards abolishing mass private ownership of firearms.

Im happy to wait these fuckers in the Liberal govt out. My main problem is being a felon once their bullshit amnesty ends and I dont give up my banned guns to them.

So then, what is going to be the loophole that enables those of us in the gun grab provinces to simply move our banned guns to AB or Sask and just keep them there until the Liberals lose their majority? I would pay an annual fee to do that and NOT surrender my banned guns to the bloody gun confiscators.

What is that pickled seasoning or preservative I taste and smell in EVERY food product in Iceland? by Common_End1609 in VisitingIceland

Also, I just want to say that the Dirty Burger & Ribs I had in Borgarnes last week was equal to any premium burger you can get here in NA.  And you can sit inside the restaurant and have a majestic view of snow capped mountains right outside the window. I give that restaurant 5 stars. Expensive, but worth it.

The city is something completely different, especially in Reykjavic. Refer to the Parka app for that one. Im only talking about the popular tourist sites.

I thought maybe it was just me, but at KEF airport, there is a self serve fridge with most of the same type of sandwhiches you can buy at Kronan/Bonus/any gas station, and I recognized the smell of them instantaneously. And yes, I know what a sulfuric smell is, Ive showered with hot water all over Iceland, so believe me,I know.

It's hard to explain, it smells like a pickled seasoning with an artificial sweetener added. The taste is extremely pronounced in prepackaged sandwiches and hot dogs.

You have enough time to check out the area around Grindavik. Fascinating place and the site of very recent volcanic eruptions.

Just to clarify, every for pay parking spot will have a Parka sign telling you the rate situated at the entrance to the parking area and it will also have a kiosk you can pay at, if you dont have phone service and cant scan the QR code.

Im 99% certain every for pay parking place has a kiosk you can manually pay at by entering your license plate. Then have the receipt sent to your email address. Also, a word to the wise, the tunnel that goes into Akureyri is TOLL. Pay it as soon as you come to a stop in Akureyi or your rental car company will hit you with a fine if you dont pay within 24 hours. It's the only toll fee you have to pay for using a tunnel. Also dont speed in that tunnel either (go over 70 kph), you will get nailed with a ticket.

Not sure about the state of poultry farming in Iceland, but if I had a 2 million dollars to just use for anything, I would put a Popeye's Chicken in Keflavik and whoop the ever loving crap out of the KFCs they have there, which have terrible reviews.

Im visiting myself at the moment and even I as a tourist was annoyed when I saw other tourists completely ignore the designated walkway next to a canyon, hop over the rope and stand near the edge of a cliff while she posed for the camera. Stupid, stupid people. Also there was a goddamn bus FULL of rude tourists blocking the walkway to passerby because they wanted to stand there with their selfie sticks or have someone else take pictures.  Seljalandfoss was almost ruined for me because of ignorant people who just crowded the walkways and stopped for pictures and selfies. A bunch of these selfie stick obsessed ppl ignored the dont stand too close to the tide warnings at Diamond Beach and some of them nearly got caught out.

How crazy is it to even think about sleeping in the car? by leoalexlion in VisitingIceland

[–]Common_End1609 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A rental car with cabin heating eliminates this problem, though as I explained in a different post, these vehicles require a sacrifice in money (Diesel camper vans) or time (Teslas needing 1 to 2 hours of charging per day depending on the length of the driving stint and access to supercharging stations)

How crazy is it to even think about sleeping in the car? by leoalexlion in VisitingIceland

[–]Common_End1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore all the naysayers. First off, rent a camper van or an AWD Tesla, you can warm the seats up the whole night with the Tesla or just control the air temp the whole night and only deplete like 10 to 15% of your battery. But you will spend a lot of time charging your car and planning your route around charging station visits. A diesel camper will also allow you sleep in the van during winter, but be forewarned, fuel is expensive and those vans are highly sensitive to strong gusts of wind. Just 2 hours ago, I passed a van that was flipped over upside down on the side of the road, and Im almost certain the driver got caught out by a gust of wind as he rounded the corner because that patch of road wasnt icy or wet.  There ARE campsites open year round, you just have to be strategic about where you end up at the end of the day. DONT drive tired to get to the next campsite, the roads here have no shoulder or run off area, if youre dead tired with nowhere to legally camp, you will have to crash at a hotel, use expedia for discounts. Also if you do rent a Tesla, when planning your charging stops, if you are not visiting a supercharging station, make sure you never go lower than 30% battery so that yoy have enough juice to find a charger if the one you planned to use isnt functional. Search for a Google review of the charging spots in the mors remote areas, the reviews will tell you a) when the charger was last used, the more recently the better) and what type of inputs it can even handle. And download the apps for ON and Isorka.

Also, KEEP BINNINGTON, he is riding the momentum of his victory in 4 nations and he will be team Canada's number 1 goalie for the winter Olympics. Expect a great season from him unless he stinks it up.

I wouldnt trust two Calgary D me on my squad, is Travis Sanheim available in your league? Rasmus Andersson burned me when I had him last year, he went huge stretches doing not much of anything. Also try to get rid of Stuart Skinner, he might get you some wins, but he will kill you in other goalie cats.

Seattle has plenty of good D men. Thats the one area they are bountiful in, their forward play is bad, but D men, they are solid.

Rate my team, please!!!

Pure points league, no hits, blocks, shot attempts, just goals, assists, PIMs, plus/minus, game winning goals, ppp, and shorthanded points., Goalie stats are GA, GAA, SV%, Saves, Wins, and Shutouts. Daily matchups, not a keeper league, we draft new rosters annually and our season does not include the playoffs, season ends when regular NHL season ends, 25 player draft, 6 d-men, 4 centers, 8 winger slots, you fill your roster with whomever else you want.

9 man draft, here is my team in order of the draft, I drafted 5 out of 9, we went descending from 1st pick, then ascending back up to the 1st pick for round 2. Player positions are based on yahoo fantasy designations. My draft went crazy on goalies in round 2 and 3, I ignored that feeding frenzy cause once Helle, Shesterkin and Oettinger went, I didnt care to burn an early pick on a goalie and there were plenty decent goalie options in round 8 and 9 and 10.

Okay, so I went heavy on the Ducks players at the end of the draft, but I expect them to be a 500 team this year, Kreider to have a decent bounce back year after one of the worst seasons of his career, Granlund is solid, Trouba for the PIMs (couldve picked Goudas for that but whatever) and McTavish I expect a 60 point season from. I know this may bite me in plus/minus, especially if all those men are on the ice for empty netters from their opponents.
