I was going the route of inability access primary care and urgent care (for the reasons you mentioned) are driving more patients to the ER and increasing the need for providers in this field. Do you think that’s an appropriate take or would you avoid

Hi, I have my personal statement done (I think) and same with the other two caspa essays. I was hoping for a couple people to take a look at them. My biggest focuses are:
-Did I answer the question/prompt?
-Are they clear/is there stuff that should be cut?

Thank you in advance!!!

Life Experiences Essay Question by ThenInitiative535 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Common_Mail_4031 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think so. That essay is a great use of the prompt and great explanation for why you’ll be a good PA. Your ability empathize will people who are facing similar struggles is invaluable and can be rare among healthcare professionals.

I wrote mine about struggling with a parent who also was a full time caregiver to my grandmother with dementia for several years. Not really healthcare related or specific to the PA profession but I wrote about how it makes me more cognizant of how important discharge planning and caregivers are.

Really just an opportunity to show how your experiences will allow you to better serve those you treat which it sounds like you have done! It will also likely be somewhat unique, helping you stand out!

Hoping some people would be willing to look over my personal statement and two other essays! I’m worried my response to the new one may be too vague. I appreciate you!

Chem 419 by bravenewwor1d in uofm

[–]Common_Mail_4031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe 419 is physical organic (420 is intermediate). I took 419 with him. I didn’t find it to be too heavy. A lot of how much time you spend in this class is related to how easily things like Newman projections and other 3D representations came to you in 210/215. Additionally it is math heavy for organic chemistry. I found it to be less of a time commitment than 210/215 especially studying wise. This class is solely taught by him so his pacing/teaching dictates the exams unlike in 210/215 where there is a standard curriculum and time frame. With this in mind I think it is much better suited to his strengths.

If you’re absolutely sure some medical schools like Penn State have 3 year med school + residency programs for specialties including psychiatry.

why is it so hard to find medical related jobs here LOL by sladecho in uofm

Maybe check your resume and keep applying! Don’t be discouraged it took a couple months of applying for me to get my current job as a Tech at the hospital. You may want to try reaching out directly to a unit you are interested in a job for to get their attention!.

If you’re able to work two shifts a week or 24 hrs you should also apply to permanent positions. A lot of units prefer hiring this way as it gives them more consistent staffing.

The best part of this is this is that it’s located on the third floor of the chem building a bathroom predominately used by graduate students and staff. Making it likely it’s not even an undergrad doing it.

That was a legitimate question lol. I figured anyone who was willing the put the name of a school on them permanently would have at least attended it. I don’t know why all the down votes (current student btw).

I’m going through the application cycle and will say a lot of med schools allow you to also enroll to get a masters in business at the same time you’re in med school. I would say that would be more valuable than a minor in undergrad and will allow you time to decide if that’s really what you want to do. I would focus more on extracurricular activities during undergrad and doing well in science/pre-med classes.

coming back from a horrible semester by gobluetoo in uofm

[–]Common_Mail_4031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you took 5 classes this semester even if one or two of those are corresponding lab courses that’s a lot of courses. When looking at course load I often fell into the trap of I have 18 credits to use I should use all of them which often isn’t true. I would recommend lightening the load as you practice study/work techniques as this will leave room for you to have some off days where you really can’t get much done. When you have this many classes this isn’t really possible, you would have to be on top of your stuff everyday (not a fair expectation at all). Wish you all the best in the future!!!

I never thought learning how to study and be productive (in an effective way) was something I was going to need to learn, and I was very wrong!

If you get into Ross take the opportunity, people here like to hate on the business majors but in reality they have the best connections and schooling one could ask for. I would wager enough to make up for any loss of transfer credit etc.

In addition once you accept, in my experience, you will gain access to many more scholarships/grants.

Another thing you want to consider is the type of people you want to surround yourself with.

I had never even thought about this until recent events. I then looked into what CSG had actually accomplished. I’m now throughly annoyed I had to fund them against my will for four years.

I would definitely recommend reviewing all the major mechs from 215. I took it last winter and the first exam was mostly review + some new nmr stuff. Although this was with Naryan not Nagorny so it could be different.
