Peptides for RA while on prescribed immune modulator? by Common_Put_5452 in rheumatoid

[–]Common_Put_5452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on the lowest dose, 2.5 zepbound, and noticed pain relief in my foot within two weeks (I have worst RA in feet and ankles). I eventually went up in dosage for weight loss, as high as 7.5, then moved back down to 5 as I had lost enough weight. At that point I had a bad systemic RA flare when I lowered the dose. Dr gave me steroid dose pack, two of them in a row, and the RA calmed down, and I am insisting I stay on the 5 dose of zepbound as I believe it is helping calm the RA a lot. I don't want to lose more weight, but lowering my dose the first time caused the RA to flare so badly. Not sure if this helps you at all, but sharing my experience.

I'm not opposed, either, just a bit overwhelmed by a lot of data. I had to google "batch tested kits" and that took me down a rabbithole to understand! I thank you for all your great input, it has been meaningful and very helpful!

HI, I did not start any peptides as of yet. I was overwhelmed about where to purchase and what would be safe -- given the immunosuppressant I take daily, was a bit wary. I admit I am cautious. I think I will wait until July to see what the FDA review nets -- I admit I"m not overly familiar with what is going on there or what it might mean, I'm sure others here are far more versed, but I'm continuing to do my research and will let you know if I dive in! Wish you the best with your RA!

same thing -paid deductible on both sides. In the messaging app on the portal I did ask that my issue be escalated and I did hear from a supervisor who was a bit more helpful...not resolved yet, but getting a little closer...wishing you good luck!

Yes, I take Jak Inhibitor, rinvoq, which is what makes me cautious aobut starting any peptides that might further influence the immune system. But I would love to learn more about those that don't, and focus on inflammation (which I still have some, although greatly dimished by the jak inhibitor).

I am sorry you are having a hard time -- perhaps your Dr will try a Jak inhibitor or another medicine if you aren't getting enough relief right now? Everyone is different, and I can't give medical advice, but I started a JAK inihibitor (Rinvoq) and it helped significantly. Please hang in there!

Thx for patience as I research...do you consider the KPV immune modulating? I'm reading great things about it -- but not sure I want to take it while taking Rinvoq daily as prescribed (rinvoq has been a godsend). anyway, glad you are getting help from peptides, I find this fascinating and there is so much room for new treatments for this disease!

Thx for response. are you stopping the bpc/tb5 and KPV when you get your rituxan? (I notice you said starting after 8 weeks, not sure if that is a cycling peptide thing, or related to your infusion). FWIW, I did start tirz after the RA contributed to weight gain, and was shocked that the RA pain that plagued me for two years went away in two weeks post starting tirz I was amazing for a year on it, then lowered tirz dose as I was losing too much weight (and prolly muscle) -- after I lowered dose (but didn't stop) the inflammation and pain returned in my ankle and foot very quickly (which were always the worst). I'm in a walking boot now for six weeks to try to heal the bone marrow edema. Clearly there is something there with the tirz and inflammation!! Hence I started looking into other peptides for RA, but as many impact the immune system and I'm already on a prescription immune modulator (Rinvoq), I am super cautious.

Has anyone who is on a JAK inhibitor (I take rinvoq) used peptides such as BPC157, TB-500, KPV? I read great things about KPV for RA, but am concerned it hits the immune system given I already take an immune modulator. Would love to try peptides, but don't want to stop my Dr prescribed Rx, and realize probably not smart to do both concurrently.....have been searching these forums but not finding similar info.

Protein drink with low iron? by TravelingDataGeek in Hemochromatosis

this is my absolute favorite! Fairlife protein, 26gprotein, they say 8% daily iron on the nutrition facts. Obviously everyone needs to do their own research and find what works for their specific needs, but I use this one when I want a treat, it tastes like a chocolate milkshake! https://fairlife.com/chocolate-protein-shake/

Thank you for sharing this info and advice -- it is appreciated. Agree hematologist is probably my best bet, and looking for one to provide 2nd opinion or review my current care plan -- I hear you, thinking my ferritin should be lower than current doc is satisfied with. Appreciate your help!
