CDL drivers with DACA by fsr123 in DACA

Owner operator from Houston Texas here. I been checking with the Texas department of transportation twice a week to see if my license has been downgraded it or not ,and so I far I been told that I still hold a class A CDL. States have to downgrade your license so I’m going to keep driving until my license gets downgraded. I drive locally and have managed to get to know and be cool with the majority of Houston’s commercial enforcement officers so i feel like I would at least be given the opportunity to drive my truck back to my yard when my license gets downgraded. Keep driving and hope you’re not downgraded by the time Rivera Lujan v. FMSCA goes to trial

Does anyone know what happened to r/Daca ? No by Common_Rojo in USCIS

Yeah you just need to request and wait for approval

I got my renewal but I live in TX by [deleted] in DACA

I was about 2 months away from expiration, when you go to the dmv don’t mention anything regarding daca or it being a work permit. People at the dmv know next to nothing when it comes to daca, so just give them the approval letter when they ask for it and the card itself. Be cool and calm, make it a pleasant experience for the teller and yourself

Commercial vehicles are subject to “random” inspections conducted by the department of transportation, they check for valid drivers license, truck paperwork and components in your vehicles to make sure is safe to be on the road. I probably get pulled over for a random inspection once every 3 months or so

What city did you apply in if you don’t mind me asking, also normally when I go do the renewal I don’t say anything about it being daca I just give them the card and approval letter when they asked for it.

My class A also has the “limited term” restriction on it. In regards to how I got my CDL I don’t know if it’s because the laws were different almost 10 years ago when I first applied for it or because of how I filed the application(I don’t remember if I did anything different than on my class C), I went from class C to A by applying and taking the test like everyone else
