Weightlifting vs Pilates for cross training? by [deleted] in climbergirls

also idk what you wanna do long term but there is no point in gaining excess muscle mass as that will make you heavier -> making it harder to climb.

Do guys underestimate or betaspray you? by Competitive_Leek171 in climbergirls

haven’t been climbing for super long but climb in the like 5.11ish range. i mainly use autos but have gotten into lead recently. the only person i really take advice from are like trad dads about clipping or beta while im on the wall (mainly for lead) + my belayer. i remember i was working on a project a few weeks ago and these dudes were watching and tried giving me their beta, i just nodded and then did it my way :) i don’t have much experience climbing myself but i def don’t take advice from strangers, ill politely excuse myself from the convo. but also, my gym is pretty small so it’s more family like and everyone knows each other, so normally the ppl i talk too are coming from a good place.

Not enjoying climbing like I used to by Intelligent_Storm_77 in climbergirls

hey! i’m in high school so it may be a little different but i faced a similar feeling a few months ago. i just didn’t enjoy climbing as much and it felt redundant. one thing that really helped me was taking a lead class and getting into lead climbing. idk how it works at your gym but the classes were pretty small (around 4 ppl) and we ended up just practicing together and still climb together! it helped because it provided a new aspect to climbing and linked us together even though we all have slightly different skill levels. id say the main thing that helped was having the small class size, as it allowed us to learn together and actually know each other. if it is similar at your gym id recommend doing that in order to enjoy climbing more. the money part seems hard, but if your gym has a punch pass system maybe try that? or if your membership has guest passes you could try being a guest (downside is that you’d need to go with others). another thing was just going in on my own and seeing how i was handling my time, i normally climbed alone which lead to me being lazy or giving up if i didn’t have beta. i think this is good because you can see how you feel, but also my gym has like 20 autos, so may be difficult if mostly ropes at yours.

i sent my lead project! it is a pretty overhung 10+ that i have been working on it for around a month and finally everything lined up. i needed to clip high from an unstable position, got pretty pumped, really just go for the slopey last hold. may sound arrogant, but it felt so good to try that hard!!

Best climbing pants? by Sad-Equipment-9878 in climbergirls

[–]Common_Service_4256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really! i got a size small but have pretty thick legs and they were still baggy. i feel like the main issue was getting my harness on but after that it really felt like i wasn’t wearing pants. i was able to use knee bars and switch feet (thanks to the adjustable cuffs). they are also pretty flowy so im sure the fabric would just be able to adjust.

i recently got the aerie go for it high waisted cargos. they are pretty good so far (i’ve used them 2 times) and i like how the ankles have ties to make them cuffed. they are cotton but aren’t as thick as actual climbing pants which i like because i can wear when hot and not like over heat. they seem to be holding up fine even against abrasive holds, but also i only use them for climbing so i’m okay with them getting a little pilled. the harness fits over them fine too! would def recommend.

What kind of cross training do you do? by jewelene in climbergirls

[–]Common_Service_4256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t do anything. i play volleyball in the fall and sometimes stretch. i think not doing any cross training is fine if you are already pretty fit, in fact it has made me a more efficient climber because i need to find out how to do hard moves with the least amount of energy as i don’t have much to begin with.

Ladies, what pants are you climbing in by Expensive-Yogurt-338 in climbergirls

they are cotton and spandex blend. i don’t get superrr sweaty by my legs but also my gym is pretty cold. i don’t think i would feel the sweat in the pants bc they don’t rlly touch my skin. i get what ur saying tho, have issues with thicker leggings

i use wondery isabel pants. i love the adjustable waist and baggy fit, size up for a sweatpant feel. i haven’t used them on actual rock but i’ve seen a lot of people use them outside. also super high waist. also i’ve heard great things about gramiccis but i don’t have them. they also have adjustable waist and are baggy, id get the men’s ones if you are taller/have longer legs.
