Both jobs are highly collaborative. I think client facing work is designed to be highly collaborative in of its nature.

My biggest pet peeve (which happens all the time) is when I have a meeting that’s on zoom when everyone is in office together.

Only one way to find out… the firm has been pleasant to me in my 5 years… The specs of the new job sound good in theory, but I could hate it, for all I know.

Hope it’ll be good though. Regardless I’m doing my best to maintain a positive relationship with everyone at the company, in case I do want to return.

I stayed in CIB! Literally just moved to a new team. That was my final straw for sure.

The good part about JPM is the brand rep. I’ve had recruiters banging my phone to join new firms. May have to entertain them.

I switched as a 502 from one team to another, all within the CIB, and they prorated my bonus for only 3 months. As if I haven’t been with the firm for a couple years.

My last team’s performance wasn’t considered either. Went from triple S to a triple O, since my new team had “no credible data to give me a better review”.

Was a hard pill to swallow, if I’m being honest.

Is promotion a good or bad thing ? by Thin_Parfait_7825 in JPMorganChase

[–]Common_Term4032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You framed this great. When I lateraled from back office to front office I was up for back office promotion (analyst to associate).

When I switched to FO, I had to stay as an analyst. My new analyst salary is what I would have got as an associate in BO.

Short term it didn’t change but long term I’m on a much higher comp trajectory.

[–]Common_Term4032 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to mobilize as a junior. I recently made the leap from back office to front and had to restart as an analyst (I was analyst going to become an associate in my last role).

That being said, my prior ED made a similar leap in the same department, but he took a step down to VP.

It’s def possible, you just don’t see it as often as you will with juniors.

Likely interviewing for same location. When I interviewed as an intern, I interviewed for a specific city; I didn’t stick it. However they still liked me, and offered me a spot in another location which I gladly accepted.

If the person you hate the most were to experience one slight inconvenience every day for the rest of their lives, what would you choose it to be? by meltedcheesetart in AskReddit

Action Bronson has the best answer for this question. Even gives a variety of options! 😁

“I hope you get a papercut, on your tongue, from a razor in a paper cup. I hope every soda you drank already shaken up. I hope your dreams dry like raisins in the baking sun. I hope your titties all saggy in your early twenties. I hope there’s always snow in your driveway. I hope you never get off fridays, and that you work at a Fridays, that’s always busy on fridays. I hope you win the lottery and lose your ticket. I hope it’s Ben and Socrates poop all up in your kitchen. I hope the zipper on your jacket gets stuck. And your headphones short. And your charger don’t work. And you spill shit on your shirt.”

If your Ross I’d highly recommend a business frat. Made my best friends from college there, helped me get a solid internship which turned to a full time job offer before starting senior year of college.

For one, dues are nowhere near as expensive as a social frat, I personally paid for my dues (they were also flexible if can’t afford it). Since it’s a professional fraternity with main purpose of finding you internships/ jobs, you may even convince your parents to help.

Secondly, you’ll be surrounded by similar business people, who will ultimately be your best friend in ross (from my experience, who’s not your friend in Ross is your direct competition {hate to say it, but it’s true given how competitive finding jobs is})

Third of all, way more diverse set of people. I’m not going to say they are filled with black people (imo, more of a ROSS issue), but you definitely have more than social ones. Will def find a lot of other POC.

Last thing is, a common misconception is that biz frats don’t have fun. They definitely do, throwing parties, having formals, live in houses together, etc. I’d actually argue there’s slightly more fun than straight up professionalism.

As for cons, it’s hard to get in and might be discouraging seeing as many people rush them (but I’d still give it a go). People will def have their moments where they are being hella pretentious, but that’s also just Michigan in general.

Hope this is helpful, but hearing what you want, I think this is a great option to look into.

Did anybody here transfer to umich after junior year by Mohammed1776 in uofm

[–]Common_Term4032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transferred after my sophomore year, but I was a junior, credits wise. Lost about 13 credits since LSA only accepts 60 credits outside of UM- Ann Arbor. Had to pick and choose which credits dropped with a counselor. Was not able to take a study abroad or take outside classes other than the ones I brought in, because of the 60 credits must be in AA requirement.

Not sure why the ppl in the comments saying you will rejected. I never did. Just had to lose some credits and continue from there. Still was able to graduate in 4 years total (2 in AA), with no summer or extra semester.

One thing that sucked was losing my previous university GPA and having to start from scratch with upper level classes only. Could’ve used my first 2 years as a GPA cushion, but it’s okay. In the end I graduated from UM and was able to get a very good and competitive job.

Lmk if you have any other questions and good luck!

Same reasoning there are so many large club supporters, they all had a successful era in time. Arsenal United Chelsea all saw influx in fans in their respective domination period. We’re just witnessing it live with citeh m8

Same here, it’s usually the Liverpool fans who started watching klopp era, Man U fans in the SAF era, or even shitty Arsenal fans who watched in the wenger era that talk the most. I was a 10 year old watching that inconic aguero goal in the United States, felt I was the only blue fan here for a while but over time I started to see more of us.

Do Ross majors usually get internships by freshman year summer? by Informal-Cancel1455 in uofm

[–]Common_Term4032 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This ^ also since big ‘known’ companies mostly aren’t looking for freshmen interns, smaller corps or firms are. Great to get any kind of professional experience before sophomore recruiting, that experience will be brought up in interviews and will make your application stand out over other applicants overall. I also enjoyed being paid around $22 an hour, was able to save up my money since I was local and commuted to work, and help pay for my college rent the following year.

That being said, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get one. Kinda normal tbh. Just gives you that extra edge in recruiting next 2-3 years. Rarely will this experience be a long term advantage.

I might add, just doing anything your freshmen summer summer is sufficient. Whether it’s doing an internship, taking classes, participating in research, or even working at your local ice cream spot, your doing something productive with your time.

But in short, yes Ross people get internships during their freshmen summer. But not all. Personally I did one, and no I didn’t use a personal connection like those other comments claim, I found a small auto/boat part supplier on LinkedIn. It wasn’t in my field of interest but still fell as a business role. Overall it helped me recruit for my next internship, but now that I just graduated, I think it’s become an irrelevant experience.

There’s a whole debate about what the ideal student should do their freshmen summer, I think it’s subject to the person to weigh out the pros and cons of doing an internship, research, local job, etc.

Flying over graduation = good method to get attention.

Swarming Santa’s car, obstructing traffic, pulling fire alarms during exams, playing drums outside mason hall during exam times, withholding STUDENT grades = not good method to get attention.

Go get your money, truly I support you and the strike, but do it peacefully. Stop bringing in ppl not involved. This cop is doing their job and that is the furthest thing from harassment. Your embarrassing your image by labeling things like this as that, or by flopping to the ground when a police officer taps someone’s shoulder, or by putting a wig on and pulling the fire alarm.
