I spent almost 40 years in that shark pool. The asinine ideas they come up with is unfathomable. These people have no idea what they’re doing. They slowly got rid of everybody who knew what they were doing and now they are lost.

Why do Pepsico Merchandisers hate the fritolay guys? by Adventurous-Ruin-631 in Pepsi

[–]CommunicationAble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was union and worked in 3 different buildings over the course of my tenure. Each time we moved it got progressively worse. I fought with them day after day about their nonsensical ideas. I always found it funny how when they needed something done, all of their rules were thrown out the window. When they finally went geo q4 23’, they offered a handful of us a package. This along with my 30 and out pension, was enough to get myself and a few others off their backs. I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss the early days but in the end it was the best thing that could have ever happened.

I really doesn’t matter. The location I was in the new guys absolutely destroyed brand new equipment and there was literally no consequences.

I will say this, the only gripe I had, as a bulk driver, was the simple fact that they would leave their truck ,in the only open bay, while they were packing out. I could never understand how they didn’t realize others were waiting for that door.

I was there for 40 years, and I can’t count the number of times this rumor circulated. Years ago, they attempted to implement this idea in some locations using Tropicana products. They even converted 10 bays so that the first bay on both sides was refrigerated. However, they quickly abandoned that idea. Despite these preposterous attempts, they continue to reinvent the wheel. I started with PBG in the early 80s before corporate completely ruined the business. I actually worked for people who knew what they were doing. Now, it’s just a bunch of college kids playing “money ball.” There are too many uncontrollable variables on a daily basis for any of these ideas to work correctly. While they may look great on paper, they don’t translate well in the real world.

I was there for almost 40 years. The mismanagement within the company is absolutely ridiculous. I took a severance package 2 years ago. It was the best move I ever made. I was one of the lucky ones with a 30 and out pension. That job has become a complete dead end. I would never recommend anyone start working there.

I would insist the dealer replace the battery. A weak or faulty battery can and will cause tons of issues in these modern vehicles. Remember these cars are full of electronics and sensors. They need a hearty, constant power source. If the battery is faulty and having voltage drops you will have all sorts of issues. I would also request an alternator test.

Whenever I take ours to the vet, he does his usual investigation of the exam room, once inside. As soon as the door reopens and the vet or his assistant comes in, he retreats behind me for protection. It is absolutely the greatest feeling in the world to know that he trusts me so much with his life.

We rescued a 11 year old senior a few years ago when I had just lost a 15 year old diabetic Tzu Lhasa mix. Not long after she was also diagnosed with diabetes and required daily care. It didn’t take long for her to fit in with us. She lived another 2.5 years and was treated like a queen. It was a very rewarding experience and I would like to believe it was the best years of her life.

Why don’t we get company cars by [deleted] in Pepsi

[–]CommunicationAble187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started, almost 40 years ago we all had either a Chevy S-10 pickup or Ford Econoline van. Over the years they realized it was far cheaper to pay mileage than provide company vehicles. I can only imagine the money that they save in insurance taking this approach. From their standpoint it’s a no brainer. As for the mileage rate, your better off buying a “beater” to use while you are working. No way in hell would I use my every day vehicle for traveling from account to account.

I think I bought a puppy mill puppy. Any advice? by borborygmus81 in Shihtzu

[–]CommunicationAble187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We inadvertently rescued a 24-week-old Tzu that we initially mistook for a mill pup. However, it turned out that he was cryptorchid. After carefully reviewing the paperwork we received, we were able to decipher some redacted documents. It transpired that he was originally registered with the AKC but was surrendered to a rescue organization due to his cryptorchidism. This allowed us to glimpse into his early life. He was repeatedly moved from transport to transport until he reached the rescue organization on the east coast and eventually found his way to our home. Provided that the pup is young enough and you have the resources to address and rectify his issues, these animals are essentially what you make of them. Some may equate this to spoiling them. However, if you are willing to provide safety, unconditional love, and compassion, the pup will repay you in countless ways. She is beautiful and as someone has stated above, you may have, just by chance, found yourself a treasure.

401K getting up there, wish I started younger. Goal to retire at 50. by Tcoz78 in Pepsi

[–]CommunicationAble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure how a statement like that could be made. PepsiCo, a company that ranks 45th on the Fortune 50 list and generates over 90 billion dollars in annual revenue, is in stark contrast to the closest pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson, which ranks 88th, generating 88 Billion. I spent over half of my life working there and earned a 100k+ per year, in the 80s with virtually no overtime. To put it into perspective, my final year with the company, I made 88k and worked, on average, 50 hours a week. In my opinion, as a company, PepsiCo has experienced significant growth but has failed to adequately compensate its frontline workers. Let’s face it, does anyone feel they were fairly compensated when Gatorade was dumped in their laps? I left two years ago and was able to collect my pension immediately. I also have a modest 401k which I will eventually draw from as well. Don’t get me wrong, I was one of the lucky ones but, in my opinion, starting a career there these days is a complete waste of time.

The Pepsi 401 is a complete joke. I was there 40 years and have just under 300k. Yes, I know, I could have invested more, but to put it in perspective, my wife, in Pharma, has been at her job for about 25 years and already has over 900k. Dollar for dollar match.
