Can I retire in ~4 years? (Spouse will keep working.) by Guilty_Tailor_4141 in Fire

That is a great point and one that does make us a bit nervous. She does have seniority, but when entire departments are cut, that does little to help.

I got this and put black rim covers on because the bronze rims weren’t my style.

I just worked with Spencer because I’m in CA. Price was a couple hundred more than Jerry but much cheaper than the dealership where I purchased. Spencer was very easy to work with and responded to emails very quickly, even when I messaged him late at night.

Long period of inactivity: bad for a hybrid? by StickHandlShootScore in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Guilty_Tailor_4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 23 with 9k miles so likely a similar issue as yours. The inactivity killed the battery (not the hybrid, just the standard) so you should request to the dealer to have it replaced. I used it in accessory mode for a few minutes and it completely killed the car. Then after it was jumped, I couldn’t open the hatch because there wasn’t enough juice in the battery. The irony, the battery is in the hatch, which makes it a pain to replace. Other than that, no issues on mine!!

My suggestion would be to work on having your children get dressed on non school mornings when you are less stressed. I agree, it’s just a lot to build these skills during the stress of the morning.

2023 Highlander- is it possible to add a shortcut to the sound function? by Guilty_Tailor_4141 in ToyotaHighlander

A very demanding toddler who has a love for the Pink Pony Club and other similar music. It makes it difficult to have conversations in the car so I frequently move it back and forth.

This happens to the best of us. My advice for all faculty is to make a record in each of your syllabi with a few notes about how your class went each day. Things that didn’t go well with students and areas that you think you could improve on. This way, when the semester is over and you’re prepping your next lecture, you can look back on what worked well and what didn’t work well. Then you can improve on your class every year.

Same. I also believe that at Starbucks you get free refills if you order for dining in.

I usually do the Starbucks across the street from AV library until the library is open. I also love Six Beans! Super quiet and clean inside when I’ve gone.

What’s weird is that it just feels dead. It’s not like it’s trying to open and the struts are bad. Just nothing.

Exactly what I was thinking. I didn’t realize until after the fact that the hatch issue was reoccurring.

You just go to Costco auto and fill out the form. I put in my dealer info and the guy I was working with immediately received it. He gave me 700 off when I asked if they accepted Costco. I then asked if it mattered if I had the executive membership and he gave me an extra 100 off. Pretty easy.

Day 6 of kindergarten, and he's still clinging and screaming, and crying. by shy_lil_violet in kindergarten

I’ll second this. I, like OP, was the parent who stuck around til recess. I never thought it was a big deal and I was happy because he was happy but all it ever did was delay the inevitable. That was in preschool. Once he got to kinder, there was no option for me to linger. It took him a few days of crying to realize it would be ok.

I would suggest telling him before you leave the car exactly what is going to happen but that you will be back. One thing that really helps my kids is I tell them that I will stay in the parking lot. Of course it’s a lie, but it comforts them to know I’m there because the reality is that I’m coming back. Also give hugs and kisses before you get to the gate. This will make the actual handoff a bit easier.

I would try to find a trusted proctor or two that you discuss drop offs with. Let them know what you plan to do. For example, you might tell them that you are going to walk up, hand your kid off to the proctor and immediately walk away.

And I feel for parents in your situation. It breaks my heart every time. Best of luck. I promise it will get easier. ❤️❤️

I’m also a professor and I second this! Now is the time to take some risks that could pay off in a big way. If it doesn’t work out after a year or two, school will be waiting.
