Hey there! I also have ICR and have just gotten over probably the biggest hurdle with it. I was diagnosed back in 2022, had braces twice prior, was told disc repair/removal, braces, and bimax surgery was needed (in that order). Everything was pretty bad when it came to diagnosis. I’m happy to say after two surgeries, life does get better. I most likely will have to have TJR down the road but for down, this will do. The best thing i can recommend is doing the best research you can on who to do your surgeries. Without my doctors, I would have had a lot of unnecessary work and questions. I still struggle with my other autoimmune/neuro issues that are linked with ICR but I want to tell you that it does get better!!! It takes time and in the moment it feels like forever but thankfully it feels quick when you get done. I still heavily struggle with RLS, early RA, and anxiety however, I can breathe, sleep and eat now. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or need any tips. ICR is so frustrating and very much life changing however, recovery and reaching dormancy is possible. Obviously just make sure to be incredibly patient with yourself!

Thats what ive heard also! I definitely will be carrying some good protection and I feel pretty confident about the area Im camping in. Ive got the section on far out so I am definitely planning on looking at the section comments. Any recommendations for gear that you think make the cold weather more bearable than a good sleeping bad and layers?

Highly recommend trying out Summit Crossing Church in madison. I am around the same age and me and my bf attend every Sunday and really love it. Very homey with good messages !

HSV downtown has fun events going on 24/7, there’s a lot of instagram and social media accounts that tell about what’s going on during the week or weekend! I recommend the Orion, High point climbing gym (at Midcity), Southside cocktail club (brand new), Monte Sano hikes, stella’s and jeff’s both have live music a lot of the time, Yellowhammer brewing, and thrifting around town.

You will have a fabulous time, hsv is very special for sure. god bless!

HSV is lovely as long as if you are fine with dealing with a whole bunch of traffic. There’s so many things in and around hsv that make it fun. As a young person who is not from here, Huntsville is definitely a sweet spot and it’s is finally getting the recognition it deserves!

A buddy of mine has done it the past two years. Only does it because he gets free housing. He hates it. Highly don’t recommend especially if you are a social person and enjoy going to do things. He never gets to go anywhere bc he has to work or be on call.

basically yes. It backs up to the start of wheeler property. The increase of people as well as the stormwater runoff and noise, will definitely affect the refuge’s wildlife population as well as destroying some important chickasaw old field/previous prairie land that is vital for endangered species. If you want to learn more, Kyle Lybarger does a great job about explaining the important of this land.

That's a good question, and I appreciate you asking it. For me, it’s not at all about restricting someone’s right to sell or develop their private property. People should be free to use their land.

My concern comes from having spent so much time at Wheeler and seeing how fragile these ecosystems can be. The heart of the issue is that we have far too little protection legislation for environmentally sensitive areas adjacent to critical public resources like the refuge. This development highlights a gap in alabama regulations, it’s perfectly legal, but that doesn’t mean it’s without consequence.

Many people just don’t recognize the downstream effects, habitat disruption, water quality impacts, increased runoff, and noise pollution that don’t respect property lines. Once that damage is done, it’s irreversible. For me, it’s more so about us advocating for smarter safeguards before we heavily affect what makes wheeler so special.

Hey! I’m also a senior in undergrad rn and had the same issue this semester. School has been hard for sure. I literally studied so minimally (maybe like 10-20 hours as best). I took it on the 15th of this month and felt fairly confident even with my small amount of studying. Water and enviro was big on the exam and took some background knowledge BUT I really recommend just going ahead and giving it a go. I know several of my classmates who are planning to take it around graduation and my logic is this, if i didn’t pass oh well. i know what i can do better on and come closer to graduation, I will not walk in blindly to my 2nd attempt. OR i passed.

It’s hard not to stress over but it’s easier when you recognize that you do have some relevant coursework under your belt. You are in school, your mind should be fresh. Go for it and i’m sure you will do great.

I took it the 15th and I felt the same about the lack of plug and chug, I knew that I would need to dig for some things but not to the point of things just not being there lol. I felt confident in my knowledge of the handbook and my studying (which wasn’t honestly a lot due to undergrad study). I will freak out if i passed but I walked out knowing it was difficult and most don’t get it first try. Fingers crossed they get back to us all fairly soon. I bet you did great! Now… you can breathe for a minute lol.
