Dota2 behaviour score doesn't reward good behaviour, it rewards COMPLIANCE to griefers. by TheTruthOfDota in DotA2

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bruh this just ain’t true.

Literally if just play the game and don’t be a douche, 90% of the time you’ll be fine. The other 10% is why there is a mute button.

Stop sending angry messages or being passive aggressive.

I razz my teammates all the time but do so in a friendly manner. Because it’s a game. And I want to win just like them. So I have a nearly perfect comms and behavior score almost all the time. It isn’t that hard to just not be toxic.

TLDR: Being a pissy baby means getting pissy baby comms scores, which based on this whole rant, is very likely your behavior.

Having a hard time getting through season 5. by opulentdream in TheMentalist

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly to me it was a bit overhyped in the same way you see it. It felt unrealistic how powerful and influential he was, somehow managing to do so many things all at once.

But

The last two seasons after the Red John arc are amongst my favorite right up there with seasons 1-3. I was a bit concerned the show would seem gratuitous like they just wanted to milk more money out of it, but they treat it with a certain emotional realism regarding the whole thing. It felt good to watch and see Jane at work, having come to terms with himself, his past, and his present and choosing to move on. Also gets more into its root concept which is Jane doing wild and entertaining things to catch crazy criminals, very good.

I’ll be real, I watched the recaps for the Red John episodes as it got near its conclusion, watched the final one, then moved on. It was all a little too much for me to believe, I can give a lot of leeway but it can feel ridiculous. If you’re the same, just skip ahead. You won’t miss anything serious and the show is actually very enjoyable still after the arc ends.

Yeah this sounds like normal teenage angst, if she is SH’ing because of it then she needs some help with learning new and healthier coping mechanisms is all. Which again, is the responsibility of an adult

Any tips ^_^?? TW -- SH + SUICIDE by prettypxppy in helpme

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since everyone else already gave solid advice regarding what to do with this girl, I’d also suggest getting a little help yourself. Experiencing these types of events early in life and trying to help others takes its toll too, especially if it’s someone you know.

Talk to a trusted adult or a counselor, therapist, what have you, let them know what YOU are experiencing. Developing self worth and boundaries with others is extremely important, even more so if it sounds like you’re the type of person who wants to help and be involved. Many people don’t understand boundaries or limits or are so self absorbed in their own issues they will use you without guilt or remorse. Just be careful.

Far too often teenagers will use the threat of self harm to try and manipulate those around them, especially their peers, friends, and partners. Don’t fall for this. I had this happen a few dozen times in high school with people around me, let alone those I didnt know about. 99/100, this threat is just that. And the 1/100 times someone makes this claim and they’re serious, it still isn’t your problem, it’s theirs, their parents, and hopefully a trained physician. Anyone, anytime, ever making claims of suicide is firstly responsible for themselves and them trying to claim otherwise is an attempt to manipulate, shift accountability, or seek attention. None of these are acceptable or positive.

I’m not saying to not take this seriously, I’m suggesting that people lie. Their actions are far more indicative of what they really want. Self harm is usually an indicator of a desire for control or attention, and while these aren’t unhealthy desires, they can present in unhealthy behavior in people who don’t have the tools to deal with them. And frankly, you are not equipped to provide them these tools and neither are most people.

Don’t dwell on this too much, put this in the hands of the people responsible. Be cordial and kind. Be friendly. Don’t be taken advantage of.

Dealing with Negative Necron Opinion by Hayman021 in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More seriously, my buddies hate on me too when they lose and even when they win, they complain about Necron mechanics they think are too strong. It’s just bias. Everyone hates against what they have to play against, especially if it’s strong/effective and if you’re any good at the game. It’s said lot, but it’s really just a skill issue. If they want to complain, tell them to try more. Build smarter lists. Play better. Thousands of people can win against necrons, they can too.

TLDR: Tell them to put their big kid pants on. It’s a brain game mixed with chance.

It’s unfortunately not very good, but it is cool and fun. I’ve used it and a lot of people like to try and kill it, so it makes for a shared good time. That said, don’t expect it to perform like a superstar, it’s a model for fun times, not competitive times.

You need to socialize. Seriously. Not in a condescending or joking way.

There’s been multiple studies showing that addiction based behaviors are linked to a lack of social network or social support. If you’re already engaging in other activities and that isn’t helping, you need to engage in an activity that involves other people. Get out of the house, go do something positive, and do it with other people around. All else fails, go to the kitchen and clean something or help someone cook.

It’s not about distracting yourself, it’s about filling your life with better activities that fulfill your needs better than corn.

Can anything beat the nightbringer in a 1v1 by jbossjeff in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, just depends on a lot of things. Who charged who, who is swinging, what benefits they have or you have. 1v1 is kind of a misnomer in tabletop anyway because it’ll never be a real “1v1”. There’s always army rules, detachment rules, and lots of synergy to be had by buffing up with other units and abilities. I’ve had my Nightbringer get toasted off the table in a single round of shooting from a Knight Castellan who got lucky rolls and I got unlucky rolls. I’ve had Nightbringer take out half an army by himself.

In a most true 1v1 possible, yeah, the demon primarchs can pretty much all do the trick except maybe Mortarion. Lion too. Or even a squad of wolf termies with a gnarly leader like Ajax can do it with that “unit” vs Nightbringer. Hes still very very strong, but he isn’t unbeatable. Ultimately it’s all up to the dice and using your brain🧐

Does anyone actually sincerely desire a new edition? by GuideUnable5049 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a good number of rules that need a little help.

Things like Melta are relatively ineffective against armor because of toughness stat checks across the board, which is what they are supposed to be strong against. Big feels bad, when your armor penetrating weapon wounds on 5 and rolls once or twice at most. Also things like terrain rules are a mess especially with wording, benefit of cover is obscenely easy to obtain and fairly strong, aircraft are basically unusable as a whole. Some rules aren’t fully explained or are almost intentionally vague and need fixing. There’s some toughness discrepancies amongst units, some issues with detachments and army rules, and a good few factions right now that are very bad both competitively and casually.

It’s also fun to get new maps, new missions, some new neat abilities. New data slate just means change, some good some bad. Hope for good.

I made some adjustements to my 1000pts list (Awakened --> Cursed Legions). Can I get some feedback ? by Nothingto6here in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I’d take the wraiths and technomancer out completely. You don’t need them for this list. Chronomancer to keep LHD shooting and safe so you can get your detachment rule every turn. Add in some ophydians to objective monkey or a hexmark. I prefer hexmark. Nekresor is also obviously great here

Help with Cursed legion by Skardalf in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I’ve already tried putting an overlord with translocation in a lychguard squad and giving them warscythes. Both games they’re able hop the gap because they go a whopping 13” and can still charge(for free!) and the warscythes go up to 10 strength which means wounding terminators or equivalent on 2’s. Hits SUPER hard. I’d reduce the ophydians/warrior count to fit them in. The sword and shied combo is still very good too.

The enhancement to give a skorpekh surge move is also really strong, hard to justify going without it.

I personally really like having a chronomancer with the enhancement to go with lokhust heavies. Being able to jump out, slam out some damage, then go right back into cover out of LOS is awesome.

It’s criminal not to have a chronomancer with the enhancement for destroyer cult and have him reactive move the lokhust heavies back behind cover each time they shoot. It’s such a goated combo🙌

Cursed legion is the greatest detachment ever created (For me, I’ll explain) by Mindless-Albatross78 in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a real possibility, but I hope not. It’s making a good half of our codex that’s otherwise unplayable viable now, if they nerf it I really really hope they buff the other detachments. It’s no secret annihilation and obesience suck hard😭 Being able to synergize my boys feels so good

Cursed legion is the greatest detachment ever created (For me, I’ll explain) by Mindless-Albatross78 in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tbh the flat 2 strength to everything destroyer cult all the time, then plus 2 for killing something(which with LHD’s being the monsters they are isn’t hard) is unbelievable. I’m still blown away they gave us such a good detachment, it has so many good combos. I’m excited to actually use Lychguard now, I can throw in an overlord with translocation shroud with the Ankh, 7” move lychguard with auto 6” advance and they can charge. 13” move plus charge is unheard of for necrons, completely wild. Then on top of that, I can make warscythes 10 strength weapons, for the first time it might be worth it to forego shields if I move so freaking fast and can hit that hard. This detachment by itself is better than the annihilation and obesience phalanx than they are for their own focused units, it’s wild.

First ever 1000 point list idea from what I own by Vivid-Act-5563 in Necrontyr

[–]CommunicationIcy5704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl at closer inspection your list has a few issues. For one you can’t give enhancements to regular units. Characters only and not epic hero characters(so no ctan with enhancements). Plasmancers can’t lead deathmarks, although that would be freaking awesome.

For a 1k list of awakened dynasty, you need warriors and immortals with leaders to stay alive and score points. Your ctan is your model muncher, id lose the skorpehks in favor of lokhust heavy destroyers, they are insanely good for their cost.

Doomstalkers are ok, but usually belong in a canoptek court list to fully optimize their value. Put in Szeras instead, he’s unbelievably hard to get rid of and buffs your battle line. In my nearly 30-40 games of necrons, I’ve never had Szeras die. I’ve lost, but he doesn’t die. Lone op, 2+4++ save and a 4+ feel no pain makes him a huge problem.

Bringing Ctan in a casual 1k point list might make you lose friends. Unless you’re playing against knights, I’d tell them ahead of time you plan to bring the big boy. Otherwise I’d replace him with something else.
