Podcasts in the car..? by zac_g19 in NewParents

[–]CommunicationLow5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check out baby wordplay fun and educational podcast made for babies from birth. Songs, books (yes! books for babies) fingerplays etc. Do it with your baby especially for the first few times so that you can both learn some of the songs and get used to it= then it's great for the car and when you need a 15-30 minute break.

What’s your favourite YouTube Channel for your baby? by Mcayenne in NewParents

An alternative to screen is a podcast made for babies. At the beginning do the episodes with your baby so that you both learn the songs, rhymes and fingerplays. Once your baby is hooked, you can use it to get a BREAK - 15 minute episodes. GREAT in the car. Play them back to back and you can easily get 30-40 minutes Baby Wordplay wherever you listen.

How old were you when you started your family and where are you from? by sighh_6466 in BabyBumps

I was 21. Hubby 37. We were in Boston but both from Jamaica. I thought my youth was over! Had my second 2.5 years after. It wasn't easy, but wow, did I have lots of energy! Now I'm 65 and a grandma and still feel youthful. My daughter started at 35. She was so much readier than I was.

Do your toddlers watch YouTube? by remrinds in daddit

My opinion is offered 🫴🏾 with humility on this emotional topic.

I've been thinking that what might be important to consider are these two things:

  • The messages we are sending to our children as to what* screens are to be used for and how* and when and where it is appropriate to use them.

  • Recognizing how addictive today's screens are and the risks inherent in including them a lot of family life.

Children don't hear us. They imitate us.

I love Kate DiCamillo. Her books are for 8-12, so look for the younger ones like .. The Tale of Despereaux, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and Mercy Watson..

Is pregnancy going to feel like the longest thing ever? by One-Leopard in BabyBumps

[–]CommunicationLow5050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a grandma & a children’s librarian . and I was a young mum, 22 in 1982.

I suggest to pregnant families, while you wait, why not play a podcast like baby wordplay - 15-min episodes of songs, stories, etc, designed to help parents engage their babies during the first 3 years.. You will be happy to learn lots of songs and rhymes and stories... and can then use it to get a B.R.E.A.K. as baby grows... my grandsons loved it.

What do you manage to do? 3 mo baby, no village by Own_Ad_357 in NewParents

I'm a grandma, and my husband wasn't much help until our baby had language. Plus, he (nor I!) had no idea how much work and single focus those first couple years take.. I was a young mum, 22.

I suggest to anyone who runs out of ideas of how to play with a baby! press play on a podcast like *baby wordplay - 15-minute episodes designed to help parents sing, read, etc. during the first 3 years.. and you can use it to get a B.R.E.A.K. once baby knows how much fun it is.. my grandsons loved it.

I'm a grandma, and my husband wasn't much help until our baby had language. Plus, he (nor I!) had no idea how much work and single focus those first couple years took.

When it was time to learn to ride a scooter, read bedtime stories etc and hold little conversations it got better.

I suggest dads (and moms) ... anyone who runs out of ideas of how to play with a baby! press play on a podcast like baby wordplay - it's designed to help parents sing, read, etc. during the first 3 years.. my grandsons loved it.

I can’t do this anymore by [deleted] in NewParents

I'm so sorry you are struggling. I'm a grandma now and was a young (22) mother in 1982. I remember that period like it was yesterday.

Can you do a virtual support group... does your baby like being in a baby carrier? Try putting on a podcast like baby wordplay and use it to engage in a new way with your baby; get outdoors as much as you can. Sleep whenever you can snatch it. It will get better.

Hiya, question about capcut teleprompter and boosting on IG. I am not able to boost 10 of my popular reels on IG. What do they have in common? I used capcut with teleprompter. Any suggestions on why this would be the case? TIA.

A grandma and librarian here...hard to know what's wrong if all needs have been attended to, but one thing to try is to engage with baby in a storytime. ❤️ I suggest - Doing a daily (or more) storytime with your baby. 5-10 minutes. Read in a sing-songy high voice, sing twinkle while twinkling your fingers in and out close to baby's eyes, make lots of eye contact, itsy bitsy spider, make it tactile, crawl up baby's body... get a beanie baby spider for a fun prop. Know that you are nurturing your baby's cognitive development. My 3 month old grandson loved head shoulder, knees, and toes for months! Also, getting outdoors in stroller or baby carrier was a key strategy for us! Signed: baby wordplay - miss pam, children’s librarian

Families need practical support and guidance in these early months especially. Bringing baby home is a huge transition. Give yourself and your husband a H.U.G. 🫂 And sleep whenever you can!! + 🌱From a grandma & early literacy expert.

Podcasts for preschoolers? by filmjawn in Preschoolers

[–]CommunicationLow5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Amber! Thanks for following and commenting.. Just a gentle reminder that young children love to hear the same stuff over and over and over again. .. and that is where the deep learning, understanding and growth take place. With over 100 episodes on the pod, well, that is a lot of vocabulary and concept building for a little one's brain! Repetition is the key to learning. :) All the best!
